The children of the wife were upstairs in the house and eating and healty. The step kids were in the basement with no food. They said they only got to eat when their dad was home, and they expected him home over the weekend. Both kids are in critical care.

The local Wichita officials will file some sort of charges and I'm guessing the two "parents" (I'd hardly use that word to describe them) will end up in some sort of detention facility.
The wheels of justice move slowly but Kansas has very harsh laws regarding child abuse, molestation and neglect. I would leave these two in the capable hands of the law and the courts.
