well she has become good friends with a associate and seems to favor her over the other employees and her management team.some people are fine with this as long as they feel apart of her group because she is the manager.others feel they need to become her friend to enjoy the same benefits.

In this situation, your superiors are not that great too, or else why they hired her? Right? So, just do your job well. The rest will pan out by itself.

I don't feel that you need to kiss up to someone to get extra benefit. This is a meritocracy society, not 'kiss-up' society. Your competency on the job should get rewarded, not your 'kiss-up' skills.

Extra note: If your performance is directly suffered by the lack of leadership of your new store manager, and your superiors are putting pressure on you, then it would be a good idea to talk out the issues that you observed to your superiors. Just tell them what you see, and don't be judgmental!

Good luck!

....you should be happy you have a layed back manager become her friend if you feel left out. open up more and work while you talk or something. If it bothers you that much talk to her and try to solve the problem yourselves. Don't automaticly point towards superiors, why bring more problems in or get someone in trouble for a minor thing that has she probably doesn't think is a problem. Bring it up to her a nice mild mannered way, but don't use a threatning tone such as," I will talk to superiors about this if thing don't change" That is unfriendly and chances are she is less likely to co-operate with you in the future and cause more tension between you two. Be mild and friendly about the situation saying,"Hey i think "we" can be doing more for this company" I stress the term "we" because if you say you then it is considered an "attack" against her and once again may cause more problems. If she still persists after your little talk, try again and be a little more firm and do a little attacking. If still persists or if you still feel uncomforatble with her talking, then it is time to see a superior.

Put up with it. Silence is golden. No one likes a squealer.

management will not listen to you. They only listen to other people in management or outside consultants.

The store manager is going to slip up and get caught sooner or later -- have faith in poetic justice and the long arm of coincidence to take care of the situation.

Pretend to be patient.

Depends on how much you want to risk your job. If upper management is worth working for, they should take care of it if you let them know the situation.
