I just bought 1GB of PC4200 RAM to upgrade my Dell from Newegg.com.
After checking several sites and sources (including Pricewatch, etc) I found these guys to be the best balance of low price and trustworthy vendor.

I strongly recommend the following process:
1. go to crucial.com to find out exactly what type of memory you need.
2. buy from newegg.com
The reason is because newegg has very close to the best prices (either the cheapest, or only a few dollars more). BUT newegg has legendary service -- a reputation that is easily verifiable on the internet but you can just take my word for it.
With RAM, it is very important to buy from a good company (not just best price), because if you get a bad stick, you want to be able to return it without any hassle. Ask any geek, and they will tell you newegg provides this service. And like I said, their prices are very nearly the cheapest if not the cheapest, so the service does not come at a steep price.

www.pricewatch.com
www.froogle.com
www.ebay.com
Find out what you want, then check all three of these. Keep in mind that there will always be better deals in one place or another...they will give a rock bottom price on one thing to lure you in, then charge too much for other things hoping you will just purchase everything in one place. It's called a "loss leader".
And pay attention to the model numbers!!! Ebay in particular will often have the most recent model number in the title, then when you scroll down, they have the model number from a year ago. This fools a lot of people into thinking they got a great deal, when they just got had.
Good luck! :-)

for ram this guy is the best the web has to offer. he is the biggest ram dealer on eBay and probably on the net.; i will give you the address to his mail box in eBay and all you have to do is ask him to suggest what type of ram you need for your motherboard. make sure to give him your computer specs. and what size ram you want. he usually replies that day with guaranteed ram that will work in your system.

tigerdirect.com
newegg.com
or depending on the brand of your computer, directly from the manufacturer.
I'd also suggest checking Ebay. There are companies on there that sell Dell ram cheaper than Dell does.
