i'll be a freshman in university....i know what i want to be after i graduate...i know i'll love the job, and i like thinking about my life as it....what helped me was my teacher who talked to me about it after i told her my thoughts on becoming one, and of course, encouragement from others has helped me greatly...i want to be an OBGYN when I graduate.....i was wondering how others got to make their decision on their careers....did you really think about it? was it a parents's advice/choice for you? do you like your career? even for homemakers...do you like being a mom? is it the 'best job in the world'? did you have a career before being a mom or have one as a mother? please feel free to comment and suggest. thank you!

While it would be nice to be able to be a homemaker, I don't have the financial stability to do so. I am a teacher. I teach elementary students in an NC public school. While this could be the end of my road in career goals, I have decided to go further. I am taking one step at a time. I am licensed K-6 grades. This past year, I attained my license in Gifted K-12 and took extra classes concerning English Language Learners. This school year I will be going for National Board Certification. After that I will be getting my Master's degree and license in Reading Education K-12. This is my 3-year plan. However, if all goes well I'd eventually like to go for my doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction and teach at the University level.
I LOVE working with students. It happened by accident. My senior year of high school my father lost his job (of 28 years) due to his company going overseas. I searched for any scholarship I could find. I found the North Carolina Teaching Fellows Scholarship and applied. Mind you I wanted to be a biologist. I knew my chances for college would be diminished without funding. After an essay and two interviews I got the scholarship and decided on becoming a biology teacher. Fortunately for me, Teaching Fellows make you do internships at various levels each year of college. I fell in love with elementary students and never looked back.

I worked construction till I could find what i wanted to do. The next thing you know, Im in const. for 27 years . then , one day about 6 years ago. I get taken out of work. Found I had a disabilty. Doc told me no work for you for at least 5 years . Not that type anyway. I was seathing mad but still bored . I had a frind intro me to helping out somwe others duringm the day. then i was doing it full time and not charging . I found out that it is better to give than recieve, but both are important. I learned how to give when I thought it was only enough for me and mine. And that itself is the TRUE meaning of sacrifice, I learned to volunteer, and thatm if i need a little more in the cupboards , give more away, and that the word easy is a 4 letter word . H.A.R.D . I learned that god chose my career for me . I took ten trades and a multiutude of gifts that i was given. when someone asks. I do . And I doo rather well to. DeanCPoetry

i thought of my qualitys and my likes and dislike and then i went through a list of career choices and i picked acting. Just follow your instinct and think of your personality and you'll figure it out. You have time to think about it. Don't rush yourself.

I went to India in 1998. Had a vision in a hotel room.

That's what I did ever since.

Call it random chance.
