most woman during there 1st trimester don't even know they are pregnant until toward the end, but i would say i have always heard stay away from tuna and raw seafood. I know that they have Mercury in them that could be harmful to the baby but i don't know how much is too much. I had maybe a couple cans a week when i was and my son is just fine. What i can tell you though is make sure you are getting enough folic acid. You can get that in orange juice or even take vitamins but it very good for brain development.

Soft cheese such as Camberete (SP), Feta, blue-veined cheese, Brie. Smoked fish, unless it is shelf stable (Canned), Deli meats, unless they are reheated to steaming. Raw milk or other unpasturized dairy. Any juice that is not pasturized. Unpasturized foods, and deli meats that are not reheated can cause Listeria. There are very little symptoms but can be VERY deadly to the baby, at any stage, not just the 1st trimester. Also, I jsut recently found out that children that consume more than 1-2 hotdogs a month have a greater risk of developing certain types of Lukeimia.

I don't think any foods are off limits...in general. However, alcholic beverages should be limited. I would also avoid non nutritive sweetners like aspartame, Equal, sweet and low. Chemical agents like these are really no good for adults...never mind the unborn. Just limit there use.

Most fast foods. Overly fatty foods, too much sugar. Acutally you can eat probably what you eat when your not pregnant, however you may find you have reactions to certain foods like very spicy ones...
