I'd say either "Moonlight Sonata" or "Fur Elise" by Beethoven.

Moonlight Sonata...is played everywhere. Heart and Soul (although its supposed to be a duet) is extremely popular among beginners.
Granted, I'm not a specialist on PIANO solos, but Moonlight Sonata is what comes to mind as most popular to me.

Either Chop Sticks or Heart and Soul...for SURE! Everybody knows those songs, even non piano players.
