Several differant video game companies are being sued for having too much violence or sexual content in their games. Parents say this stuff is damaging to their kids. Well... yeah. That's why the games are rated "mature." They're not for kids. It's printed right on the box.

Apparently people are such bad parents that they can't even bother to keep an eye on weather or not their kids are buying approriate video games, and so want to make it so that there are no mature games at all. Which of course ruins things for us older gamers who just want a little hack-and-slash action.

What gives? No one is going after the makers of movies like Saw screaming "Your movie is inapproriate for children! Change it right now or I'll sue!"

Your thoughts?

Parent's ignorance is way more harmful.
In terms of movies and games, it's the same with cigarettes, pot, junk-food etc. A lot of adults, with children or without, lack their own moral grounding to run their own lives. Taking care of their children is like that leaky faucet that keeps annoying you. You shut it off, go back to what you were doing, it starts up again and so on. You never fix the actual problem. People are too pre-occupied with their own empty souls. Then, when the children get too out of hand, they cash in by blaming someone else and calling a lawyer. Religion can't seem to offer us morality without guilt and external-authority. Society and culture can't seem to offer us happiness without default on morality. Kids who have ADD are just being KIDS. WE have just forgot what that means.

I agreed with what you are saying before I became a parent. Granted, the world is a free place and adults should be able to do what they want to do. I love a good violent video game as much as the next guy - I like Hitman and God of War and movies like Hostle and Saw. Do I think the images shown in these games and movies are good for young, impressionable minds? No.

I'm worried about my kid seeing that kind of stuff and imitating it but I am also worried about other kids seeing that kind of stuff and imitating it. I hate to see young people get hurt. I also hate to see young people hurt others. These games can inspire the young and weak minded to hurt themselves and others. Have you ever seen "Backyard Wrestling"? Just imagine if we get young kids imitating Hitman 47 or Jigsaw? You and I may be great parents, but not every parent is a great parent. Not every parent is a knowledgeable and good parent. We can best protect our children by protecting all children.

Because many modern day parents are ignorant and only look for other people to blame. I'm a modern day parent, but I'm also a traditional parent. I don't look for scapegoats.

Why don't you just worry about yourself and not others. And take off your mask. So we can all see your pretty little face.
