barry sanders! hands down by far the hardest human being to tackle ever to step on a field.

Barry Sanders

Played with class in an era of showboating
Never spiked the football
Left on his own terms, when he was ready

And if he had played longer, Emmit Smith wouldn't have been close to the record, let alone hold it. Barry would have broken Walter's record easily before he hung them up had he continued to play.

There are a lot of all time greats, but I can't imagine ever seeing another person like Barry on the field. He was the whole package. When you make multi million dollar DBs miss you game after game, year after year, and lead the league in rushing on a team that can't even make the playoffs... That's saying something.

James Brown. When you talk about the "old days", a lot of modern statistics weren't being kept back then, so we don't have a lot to go on from about the mid 1950s and earlier (QB Sacks didn't even become an official stat until sometime in the 1970s). But you look at the numbers Brown racked up in the short amount of time that he played, and the stats are unbelievable.

Depends on how far back you want to go, and what position you're talking about.

QB: Marino (yes I know he never won a Super Bowl, but he won several big games without Roger Craig, Jerry Rice, and a star-studded defense to help him out).

Who knows...in another 10 years, we could put Tom Brady's name here. He's won HOW many Super Bowls with WHO at receiver???

RB: Jim Brown by a nose over Walter Payton.

WR: Jerry Rice. Unquestionably.

DL: Reggie White. No one comes close.

LB: There are several...too many to choose from.

DB: Ronnie Lott comes to mind as far as a jack-of-all trades, but Deion...as much as I hate him...was the best cover CB I ever saw.

That said, I think Jerry Rice is the best football player of the Super Bowl era (going back to the mid-to-late 60s). Take Rice away from Montana and Young and how many Super Bowl rings do they have? None.

Are you 14 and a freshman in high school? If you are, then the coaches might have a workout plan to get bigger and stronger for football. Follow that plan as it is especially made for football. Also, you may be eating a lot of protein, but you are probably lacking carbs and calories. That is the one thing people skip out on when trying to get big. Do not forget about carbs and calories. You need about 4000-5000 calories a day, 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight, and 2-3 grams of protein per pound of body weight. If you want to joke around and talk about steroids spell "steroids" correctly at least. It would be better for all mankind \/ \/ \/

These guys never played football.
They played civilised rugby.
But Americans are fond of the ridiculous, play among themselves and call it the world series.
Have a national pageant and call it Miss Universe.
The greatest FOOTBALL player played with his feet and did'nt run around throwing a pigskin.
Pele or Ronaldinho would be the greatest FOOTBALL player of all time.
Thank you.

Walter Payton
Nobody understood how to play the game better or dished out more punishment from such a small body. He was a monster in little guys clothing. His workout routines and work ethic were second to none, which rubs off on every guy in the locker room. Walter never ran out of bounds --instead he would pound you for one more yard. He made everyone around him better.
