I rejected two job offers because the salary was just at the minimum and I didn't like the position. But now, I am having trouble looking for a job with better pay and that would suit my skills.

The thing to understand about looking for a job is that you need to already have a job in order to be desireable to employers.

What you should do is pick up any reasonable offer to begin with and then immediately start looking for a better job.

Every six months to a year or so, you make a move to a new job. Each time should be done for a 10% raise not counting any benefits (benefits are worthless).

The story is always the same (no matter what the real situation is). You like where you work and are well liked by the people there but you don't have enough responsibility and feel you are up to doing more important work. You couldn't see yourself leaving for less than a 10% raise (regardless of benefits).

That's the way it is done.

Also, never allow yourself to become unemployed. You are considered unemployable if that happens and have to start over, although not necessarily from the beginning. Never take a pay cut either. It will be a blot on your resume for years.

any money coming in is better than no money coming in.

Besides, you are fresh out of school, with little or no experience- you don't have too much room to be picky. Wait a few years till you have set your chosen career path on fire and you are highly sought after, then it's time to be picky. Until then, get used to the idea that everyone starts at the bottom, you only start at the top when your dad owns the company!

I think it depends on how easily u can find one. If you don't have a lot of experience, or aren't as succesful at finding/obtaining one, its probably best NOT to be picky. On the other hand, if you are brilliant at scoring jobs then by all means be as choosy as you like! I am personally very picky with jobs, only settling for the ones which pay me half decently. Nevertheless, thats because I'm a uni student who always needs extra cash

Your level of pickiness may be related to how much money you have. If you have enough cash to go 6 months without a job, then don't be as picky. If you're quickly running out of cash, then get a job right away.

Also, it is usually easier to find a job when you already have a job. Less pressure that way. Good luck.

Sometimes you have to start at the bottom to get to the top... Take the position at least get an income and still look for a career you will enjoy.
