I find music has ground down into a constant replay of hurt feelings and sorrow. Back in the day.. I dunno how far back you mean, but the further back you go, the happier the music seemed to be.

We have moved away from capturing those light happy emotions and seem to concentrate on the negatives..

For me, there is nothing worse than hearing someone play the same breakup song 100 million times just so they can wallow in their feelings... I feel the same way about the artist who created such songs.. whole albums of whining over how they lost a girl/guy and how they will never get them back or how much they are over them, or how much they need them there by their side..

get real, in real life.. if people whined like artists do in their songs they would have absolutely no romantic prospects whatsoever..

but hey, whatever works for them...

like all things today, it seems to be a tool of the propaganda machine, another sinister cog spinning it's way into the hearts of the masses and encouraging certain behaviours..

Well, seeing as I'm a fuddy duddy, when it comes to today's so called music, I despair of it.
I much prefer, music with melodies, and rhythms, and some great singers, to interpret them for us.
Today it's mostly rap, at least for the kids, and to my ears, it all sounds the same.
I prefer the fifties rock and roll, and those of the sixties, and those many classics from previous eras. They just seem more fun than what we have now.
It's not as if we don't have the talent, we do.However, for some reason, which, was true in most recent decades of the past, the ones who buy the most music, are teen age kids, or even pre-teens.
So that is who the music companies cater too. It's the same with the movies. All for those movie going kids.
Luckily we still have all those great recordings from the past to enjoy. All those great Italian singers, like Sinatra, Martin, Bennett, etc. So we old fogies, will still enjoy our type of music and the kids can enjoy theirs.
My parents didn't much care for my tastes in music, and I'm sure their parents didn't either. That's life for you, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

To me it feels that most music produced nowadays is only for the money, it's 99% product and 1% music. This used to be very different. There are a lot of positive exceptions though, but most mainstream pop/rock/r&b sounds like a lot of sell-out to me.

Then again it's not just music, a lot of products have traded a long lifespan for a more spiffy outlook. I mean your average cellphone lasts three months and then it's antique with a trinket value. So it's more like a sign "O" the times or something.

Country is good, but it was better in the 70s. Rock has gotten worse, these days. Blues I can't stand. Pop has semi vanished. Yea, the 1960s and 1970s were better for music. The 1980s were good, too, for some music genres.

I love all types of music.....but I really dont like the new music they are playing today. It just doesnt have any meaning in it like it used to. Alot of the music I like is from the 60's,70's,80's. And Im 16 so thats kind of strange huh! I just think that all these new rappers, and rockers are just singing about crap. Nothing that really touches you.

i feel that a good portion of the music created today [mostly directed towards rap] should be banned. there is no talent, degrading lyrics, and is worthless. i have no idea how these people make so much money/how people can stand it.
years ago, they actually made their own music. it wasn`t all electronicly produced by some middle man.

You call it music? I'm not that old (only 32) but I think most of the music today is just plain crap. All these R&B artists are identical and have no originality.

All a truly talented person has to do is stand at the microphone and sing.
They don't have to dance around or wear street walker clothes or climb on poles or do acrobatics.

If you can move an audience just by standing at a mic and singing, that's all you need.
Unfortunately, there's no one new who can do that.

music now is mainly produced for money and fame. but that was also true in the "old days" i mean bach, handel, mozart, schubert, rossini and many others, just to name my favorites. but when you see a depiction of heaven you hear classical music. i guess that's the biggest difference.

Today's stuff doesn't measure up well against 50's rock, good folk, and doo-wop. Plus: Rap is simply degenerate trash.
