She didn't throw a tantrum. They always immediately escort the first runner-up off the stage because they know how acute the pain is for them. It allows them the chance to cry without the entire world pointing fingers.
I was pulling for Miss Japan. I thought she was drop-dead gorgeous. That was the only one I had wrong in the order of the final five. I think her answer to the question may have cost her the crown ... because I didn't think it matched very well.
I do know one thing ... that guy from the "Queer Guy ..." drove me freaking nuts! I didn't find him funny at all ... just sad. Like a caricature.

It may be that the Miss Universe judges are very careful to "rotate" successive winners racially. If it wasn't the right year to let an Asian contestant win, she would be out of luck.
Let's get the statisticians working on this idea:
Winning contestants' racial sequence in time. Is it more mixed than a random draw would produce?
It might be worthwhile to analyze the runners up, too. Do the judges mix them more than a random draw would explain?
Maybe there's an overcompensation factor, too. You know how a teacher might treat her own kids, if they're in her school, more strictly than the others, just to show everybody that she isn't doing them any special favors?

Japan was the winner. Puerto Rico looks weird.

i agree with him^. haha japan left the stage immediately sfter she found out she didnt win. she didnt hug miss puerto rico or anything. she got her runner up flowers and walked off. haha

lol its funny that Puerto Rico won because there has been rumours surrounding this years pagent that they would do everything they could to crown Miss Puerto Rico miss universe and she won.. wouldnt it suck if it was rigged! (which I think it is because Australian Jennifer Hawkins won and she SUCKS)

i wanted trinidad & tobago to win.. it was kinda a ripped off for me.. japan was my second choice
miss japan surely went and destroy the prizes puerto rico won.. haha

i have no clue. she didn't even hug puerto rico ! she just walked off stage.. i hekka thought japan would win. OH WELL!
