(primarily our government) is solving many of the world's problems, while we still have so many here that remain unsolved? i.e. hurricane Katrina damage, homelessness, etc....

Yes. I've thought that many times as well. I also worry about how many of our own troops are in other countries. My bf was in the Army National Guard and he was stationed in Iraq for a year much like many other Guardsmen. I often wondered what would happen if something happened in the US and we needed the National Guard to guard OUR NATION. It seems like as soon as some crisis hapens elsewhere, America wants to step in and fix it. I think it's great to want to help others, but there's so much here that can be taken care of as well.

It is my biggest gripe! Every time there is a natural disaster or a man-made tragedy the good 'ole USA is off to the rescue. We are given the role of world police and yet are criticized for this imposed role all the time. I wish that ALL administrations should focus on domestic affairs first and foremost! Thank you for the insightful question.

we are spreading are self to thin - I think the gov's domestic policy is such a joke, they have been focusing abroad

does seem that way doesnt it. i mean we have unemployed - so lets invite immigrant over to do our work- so that we have to get food assistence from the gov. @ least we get that 4 now!
