Everything MUST be changed again. The transmission fluid being in the engine won't "kill" the engine in SHORT duration of no more than 5 miles. If you try to drive the vehicle the way it is, you will undoubtedly "kill" your transmission. Transmission fluid is very thin and high in detergents. If you want to clean your dirty engine, use no more than one quart mixed with your oil. After about 500 miles, change it, and the filter. Replace with the recommended oil and you're good to go. I would not recommend doing this continually because of the high detergents in the trans fluid. It's just too thin, and will cause the bearings to wear prematurely. As for the transmission, that would be like trying to suck molasses through a straw in a deep-freezer. Take it to a shop and have the tranmission flushed. Other option, maybe your wife got the dipsticks mixed up, and nothing is wrong at all...

It means don't start the damn thing and get your vehicle towed to a good repair shop to flush that crap out and insert the right stuff in it's proper place. Then bill the guy who initially did the work
Your vehicle can probably be saved. Trans fluid is basically engine oil with alot of additives and detergents. The trans fluid in your engine just clean the hell out of the engine. Your trans is another story, it needs those additives and detergents. If it doesn't have that stuff, well I give is less than a 20% survival rate. Pray to the car gods, you must...

Earlier you claimed as a source "20 years fixing cars" advising someone how to pull the radiator hoses off and start the engine to see if the water circulates freely.
I think I understand you now.
Oh yes and Trans fluids do not contain detergents. Engine oil contains detergents to suspend dirt and carry it to the filter. Transmission fluids have anti-foaming agents, rust inhibitors and SOLVENT to disolve varnish. But noooo detergent which is a particle suspender. The filter in a tranny is really a strainer and the dirt is supposed to fall to the pan as sediment and stay there until removed by washing.

It means go check it yourself, but if you don't know what it means...
If it is actually the way you make it sound, drain the fluids, drop the pans, and clean everything including the tranny valve body, and bill your "friend" for te repairs.
It can be fixed, just don't drive it with the fluids reversed.

holy cow
don't star the car!!
sounds like mr.backyardmechanic mixed up his fluids. you can probly just drain the tranny and oil pan depending on what kind of oil he used, but it'd be a good idea to just get it flushed out. and next time do it yourself or take it an envirolube or something

Duh, your friend has just destroyed your car. Good luck getting it fixed. Have a great night. Don't believe me, call Auto Zone, Checker, or a mechanic. If this is for real, I feel so sorry for your stupid friend. Don't start the car okay, get it towed to a mechanic and tell them what happened. Have some cash in reserve and good luck.

Your "friend" got his fluids mixed up...better call a tow truck to your nearest MECHANIC and get it fixed before trying to drive it again.
Oh and call a lawyer, your "friend" will be paying for the work...one way or another!
