I live in NC and I see a fair share of confederate flags and bumper stickers, I'd take a wild guess and say that SC and GA are worse, but who's the absolute king of Confederate Nostalgia?

also, seperately (unless you can argue that they are the same thing) which state is Redneck Capital?

also (completely seperately) I'm terribly bored and lonely (in a nonhorny sense) and procrastinating wildly on my homework. if anyone wants to talk to me (and is interesting enough to keep my attention away from my absolutely abhorrible textbook) I'd be delighted to chat.

I've lived all over the South, I'd have to go for "all rural sections", and Mississippi & Alabama are almost all rural sections.

The Real Redneck Capital: by numbers alone, Texas. But I've seen extreme behavior in every state. It's the same everywhere, all over the world. When I was a kid in SC the 60s there were "Colored" signs everywhere, every kind of abuse of blacks, cockfights, law enforcement corruption, you name it.

I live in a place in NC now with TONS of law enforcement corruption, there are some hardcore rednecks, their aggression is mostly aimless because they are frustrated with themselves, I guess.

I can't go with a single state, however, in 1994 the Republicans took the Bill of Rights from the constitution of the Confederacy and (omitting only the right to own slaves) presented it almost word for word as the their official party platform. They called it the Contract with America. Last I heard that was still their agenda, most notably the conversion of the U.S. to a Fundamentalist Christian Country, an effort still widely reflected in all they do. If you sit down and read the actual constitutions of the three nations you will see that the Confederacy and Nazi Germany were both founded as Christian nations, the U.S. was not, we had just fought a war to escape from a a Christian nation, remember, the Monarch of England is also the head of the Church of England. Freedom from state sponsored religion was the whole purpose of the 1st amendment, and one of the reasons sited by the South for succession was the North's rejection of the Biblical endorsement of slavery. So, while it would be hard to pick a most pro-Confederate, you can make a case for the most pro-Confederate party, the Republicans.

I live in Georgia. Most of Georgia is Confederate-loyal(even Athens GA and parts of metro Atlanta seems that way) with the exception of some urban areas. I went to high school where students were known for flying confederate flags from their trucks and some people fly them from their front porch. I personally don't approve of the confederate flag.

I am a former resident of Mississippi and grew up there. I think Mississippi edges out Alabama by a nose -- Alabama agreed to provide funds for a museum to the horrors of slavery, after Mississippi rejected funding for it. Not that that proves anything, but trust me, you won't see Mississippi spending any money of that kind of thing any time soon. There are still horrifyingly too many people in MS who don't think the 'N' word is offensive.

I lived in FL, MS, AL, and now GA.
I've met many people who own and display Confederate flags.
I don't think any of them seriously want their state to secede from the U.S.

Probably Alabama or Texas. Texas is bigger, so that is my educated guess from living there in the past.
