Sea Monkeys... only to find out that they were not, in fact, very unusual after all. For, when I had finally had got my very own in the mail, after wanting them for YEARS... I was informed that in all reality, they were actually only itty bitty, tiny, little shrimp.
Boy, talk about a major letdown during my childhood.

Perhaps the cricket and the firefly. I would not recommend them. They die too fast. My grandfather brought back the cricket cage from japan. He lived there. My parents caught the fire flies for me and put them in a jar. They were dead by morning. Even with the holes in the top of the jar. We were on vacation. They both were used to fire flies. I was born in a desert and not used to them. My parents were trying to be nice. Oh and the crab I kept for they evening. We caught it in a trap and visited with it and then threw it back. They other people thought we were crazy when we wanted to trade them our big crab for their little crab. But we just wanted a visit. I was not from near the ocean. They wanted to eat the big crab. I just wanted a visit. Thanks for the old memories.

a chinchilla.. but only because we found it in a busy restaurant parking lot in the middle of winter. I live in Canada, and chinchillas don't run wild around here. We quickly got rid of it because it chewed through its cage, then chewed electrical wires and started a fire. Guess it was suicidal.

I had a snail that I found on the sidewalk. I named him Dave. He used to slither around his little aquarium, eat leafy things. I miss Dave.
