If Spiderman 3 rakes in millions like Spiderman 2 did, I expect Spiderman 4.

No, it's raking in way too much. And from the teaser, this one is going to make the first 2 look like warm-ups.

Here's the concern, though. Kirstin Dunst is only signed to the first 3, and she's already made noise about not wanting to do any more, and it looks like Sam Raimi is only committed to doing up to #4 (although he's basically said as long as he can do interesting things with the character he's still interested in doing them). The major team members (cast and crew) are really PERFECT for their roles, so when they start getting replaced, it's hard to imagine anyone stepping into their shoes.

(An aside: Dunst going bye bye makes me speculate that they'll do Amazing Spider Man #122, but instead of Gwen Stacy taking the dive, it will be MJ; this will also be a nice "full circle" bit from the first movie if they have done this)

The good news is there are still lots of quality villians left on Spider-Man's rosters to make some interesting movies. Kurt Conners is a character in the movies already, when will they do the Lizard? I think Mysterio, Jackal, or Scorpion would also make interesting villians/storylines. And if I'm not mistaken, the Rhino was originally a Spidey nemesis, right? Plus there are less interesting but equally worthy villians like Electro, the Vulture, Tarantula, Morbius, Man-Wolf, Kraven, etc. that could be candidates for a secondary minor villian.

In other words, if they decided to, they could make 4 or 5 more films in this series and still have good villians left over. So we'll see how long the principal players are willing to stick around.

i know for a fact that there will be a 4 and 5. i was talking with my uncle (head guy at marvel in NYC) and we got on the topic of spiderman movies. i had heard that sony didn't want to do any past 3 (they own the rights) and he said that they will continue to make more and more and already have the plans written out for #4 and #5. they are rough at this moment but as long as show profit each time there will be another.

No, its the highest grossing superhero at the box office, and everyone loves to play their characters. Tobey M has already stated he'll play Spiderman as long as they want him to. And the director has agreed with him.
So, as long as there is a fan base, there will be many of Spiderman movies on the way.

It is tru to forn that they will keep releasing sequals as long as they are making money in the box office. Once a sequal stops making money in the box office, they will stop making sequals, so to answer your question, yes, I do think they will continue making the Spiderman series.

I hope so although to be honest, there is enough material from the comics to make a few more... damn evil people! Why'd you have to be so many!? And there's also the mutation spiderman goes through were he turns into a giant, evil spider... damn...

Doubt it although Tobey Maguire's contract only said he would do three which means that they need to reinstate it but now with much more money because he is more famous and at a much higher demand or get some one else to play Peter Parker.
