Someone marked some initials in spray paint on my trash can and on some stop signs in my neighborhood. What does this mean? Why do people do this? Serious answers only. If I get no serious answers I will delete the question rather than give points away. I want to understand this. What is the point?

I know it is called taging. I worked in a psych hospital and the kids did it yeah psychiatric patients. So I do not want to hear any psychiatric answers unless they are well composed and intelligent okay. No behavior disorded answers that are sounds or one word okay?

It looks like initials. I immediately hid the trash can. I did not want them to be able to look at it. I know they like to see their work. You are right. I did not purchase beer or buy anything for anyone. Some kid did jump in frount of they car one day and want to fight my boyfriend. Perhaps it was him. He was in baggy sports clothes and my boyfriend said he was in the early stages of gang activity. Just a kid however. Perhaps he recoginized the car.

Get a CCTV camera and connect it in front of your house and hook it up to your computer so any movement it will save it on your computer, and when you have something give it to the cops...
people should have respect for other peoples properties.

Serious graffitti has nothing to do with behavioral disorders, nor is it gang related. A lot of graffitti is actual art. It takes years of practice, just like any art form. Have you ever tried writting ANYTHING in spray paint? It's pretty darn hard, even if you're writting in foot high block letters.

That said, it doesn't sound like this is a serious street artist. It's probably not a kid you had a run in with either. It's just people writting their name on whatever they can. It the same as people carving their initials into trees back in the day. Chances are you'll never know who "K.T.H." was, but you'll know that he was there.

When I was in high school, the senior class would spray paint the highway overpass as the senior prank. It could be random vandalism, it could be a dare, it could be gang related. It all comes down to peer pressure and acceptance. The kids who do this feel it is the only way for them to receive attention and be welcomed in the group of friends they want to be with.

I would say attention, wanting acceptance from peers or just "for the devil of it"; to get away with doing something wrong without repercussions. I don't understand the limitations you put on the answers. We have to see the good with the bad in this old world in order to try for understanding.

It's a tool to identify adults who buy beer by the keg or bottles/cans. Giving some to minors. Also it covers other things that they feel is illegal and should be brought to a halt. Their tagging is a punishment to you.
Sorry but this is all I know about it.

Are they gang symbols? I am not sure why they do it either unless its like a dog marking it's territory. Someone told me Indiana wants to make graffiti a felony. A little harsh.

There really is no point. kids and teenagers (and really immature adults) do it just for the feeling of "beating the system." and as for what it means, it doesnt mean anything. just some moron thinking that it is cool to vandalize someone elses property.

I think grafiti is a way of crying out to the world that you are there. A sneaky way of saying "hey, Im here and I challenge you to see me"

Usually they are made by losers with void lives that believe themselves important "tagging" or "marking" so they feel something is "theirs" so they brag to their friends about it.
