I'm not sure what behaviour changes you are seeing in your baby, but I am sure it is upsetting. A cause and effect relationship between thimerosal hasn't been established for certain, but in other countries, it is taken seriously. However, there may be good news for you... MOST vaccines no longer contain themerosal, so unless your baby has some from an old batch, it's unlikely that's causing the change in behaviour.

Just so you know, there is a link between the MMR and autism (again, taken more seriously outside of the US), and it has nothing to do with mercury preservatives but with the actual measles antigen.

My heart goes out to you... we are struggling with some similar issues right now but for different reasons. One thing that you can do is look at the CDC's site and check to see how many instances of a disease have been reported in the states... many of the things we vax for have tiny, miniscule incidents here, and it may be that for your child, the risks of the vax are greated than the risk that your child will contract the illness for which he is being vaxed.

Also be aware that no one can FORCE your child to be vaccinated. All 50 states have medical exemptions if a contraindication for immunizations can be found, and most have a religious exemption. More and more now have a philosophical exemption as well. If you file an exemption, you child can still go to school, etc. You can even travel overseas without being vaxed.

I wish that I knew more about what signs you are seeing in your baby that are worrisome, but I can tell you that austic symptoms aren't generally manifested in a child so young.

I don't think that we shouldn't vax children, but I think we should carefully screen out some children who, for whatever reasons, react adversely to the immunizations.

Good luck to you,

The flu vaccine it is provided contained in the multidose vial. yet this isn't used for toddlers 6-35 months. The pediatric dose is someone syringe without thimerosal, it is used contained in the multidose as a preservative and to spice up the effectiveness of the vaccine. besides the undeniable fact that, maximum flu vaccines at the moment attainable do no longer contain thimerosal. the only dose syringes (both man or woman and pediatric) do no longer. except the multidose vial flu vaccine, there is purely one which includes thimerosal, besides the undeniable fact that, it is not any longer robotically counseled for youthful ones. it is the DTaP with the emblem call of Tripedia it is man made by Sanofi Pasteur. something else both under no circumstances had thimerosal or it replaced into bumped off a even as in the past.

My wife and I agonized over whether or not we should have our daughter vaccinated given the risk of autism from thimerosal preservatives. We finally decided that the scales are tipped in favor of vaccination, since there's no real scientific proof of thimerosal links to autism (per the CDC). There is, however, a real risk of mumps, measles, pertussis, polio, hepatitis, etc etc etc.

Our daughter has had three rounds of shots now, and I'm glad to say that she's happy and healthy. It is true that some children have reactions to the shots, and we were watching like hawks to see if anything bad happened to our baby girl, but the worst thing for our daughter was just crankiness and some very temporary redness at the injection sites.

Like many other decisions you must make for your child, do what your heart tells you. Advice is fine, but don't let fear or intimidation by others make any decision for you.

PLEASE go and get the book What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Children's Vaccinations by Stephanie Cave. It is full of great and useful information. It gives information on both sides of the story. Good Luck!!
