At your age no. there is no reason for them to check you there unless you are sexually active. I would imagine they are more interested in you heart, lungs, weight, height and overall health. If they try to examine you there and you do not want them to say no. They cannot examine you without your consent. If they try and pressure you then tell them you want your parents there.

How old are you hun? Have you had sex yet? If the answer is yes, it's important that you do get a checkup. It's always a bit uncomfortable at first, but it's very important for your health! Some women have a problem with a male doctor doing this. If you do, just tell your mom or dad and they will help you with this problem hun. The first time my doctor asked me I think I was 16, and I told him no. All you have to do is say no if you feel too uncomfortable about doing it. The doctor will not force you to do this procedure. The doctors do this procedure to make sure everything is " right" in that area. It is important that you do eventually get it done. It's your health hun, and it's very important, but noone is going to force you to do anything. Good luck hun, and if you need someone to talk to about it, feel free to e-mail me or IM me. Autumn_Anne on messenger or Autumn_Anne@yahoo.com. I'm no doctor, but I'm in nursing school and might be able to help you. Take care of yourself hun!

I've never heard of a school physical that required a GYN exam.
Most of the time it is just a check of the basics--blood pressure,
reflexes, heart, lungs, etc. If you are really worried about it ask your doc what he will be doing.
Now then, maybe you won't have to worry about that kind of exam
at this visit. But you should consider having a GYN check-up later on. I have battled this myself. I know they aren't very pleasant, but after my friend Amber went 12 years without one and was diagnosed in May with cancer that started in her cervix and could have been treated had she had an annual check-up
(the cancer spread throughout her body--the drs. gave her a month to live, she died 3 weeks later.), I have had to bite the bullet and get in for a check-up. I love my children and family much to much not to.
I don't want to sound like I'm giving you a lecture or anything.
I just wanted to remind you how important GYN exams are.
(By the way, my friend was 34 when she died. She left behind a 6 yr old son, a 3 yr. old daughter, and a 6 month old son, a husband of 8 yrs., and other family and friends who love her very much.)
Just something to think about.
(Even if you're 14 it's still important. When my brother was in school he had a classmate who was diagnosed with cancer their 8th grade year. She died their junior year of high school. Don't want to scare you, just what to educate you. If you are sexually active it is even more important.)

I went in for a physical around that same age and my doctor didn't check out my "area". I suppose it probably depends on the doctor and your overall health. 14 seems a little young to require that, in my opinion. I think most doctors suggest you get one around age 18, or when you first have sex. More than likely, all they will do is listen to you heart and your breathing, test your joints, push around on your stomach, take your weight and height, and ask you some questions about your health. Good luck. :)

I can't imagine why he would. Usually a check up will involve listening to your lungs, taking your pulse etc, maybe weighing you.
If he wants to do more just say you're not comfortable - it's your body.
