Thats really up to you to decide... If you both are in love, then I don't really think it matters how much you spend, as long as you aren't making yourself go broke. Why are you keeping track anyways? Do you fear she's only w/ you because of that? And realistcally, that isn't that much a year if you break it down.

i personally think 2,500 dollars for a whole year of dating is not a great sum of money. Even if you are working a minimum wage job, I would think you would have to clear over 1,000 a month. If you are working at a mid level or assistant type of job, then you should clear anywhere from 2,500 to 3,960 a month. Now we get to the heart of the matter, she dumped you, and you wish to take her to small claims court, to get back the money you spent on her.You have every right to feel disgruntled, but I think it is going to be a waste of your precious time and money, because if you lose your case you will be stuck with court cost. The only thing i must add to this , Is if you two co-habituated as in shared an apartment or home, you are getting involved with a palimony suite. I hope the links below help you to make up your mind.

it kind of depends on how old you are and how much you earn as well. Is this spent all in one go?

If you are on minimum wage, yes, it is a lot of money, too much if you ask me. A nice engagement ring would go for that much, but if you make that in a day or week, it's probably not an unreasonable amount, but what exactly are you trying to say with it? What if your gift is rejected or you break up, how would you feel about this amount then? At least with an engagement ring, as long as it's not given on a special occasion (birthday, v-day etc.) it's still legally yours.

Ultimately, I do think it's a bit excessive.....

The amount of money is insignificant because it would depend on your financial situation. If you were a sheik and own many oil wells it would be equal to a penny maybe to an American Indian who lives in one of the poorest sections of the USA in a hogan and has to catch his water off the roof and barely is able to exist. Why not send the money to starving people instead of spending it stupidly. Relationships are not metered by how much money you spend on a person. That is petty to put a relationship on a mercenary level!

I consider it one hell of a lot, in fact just exactly $2500 more than anyone's ever spent on me, not including dinners and movies. Never ever get confused in thinking that financial sums equate or demonstrate love. Money and love have no relationship in common, nor should they.

What does money have to do with it? If you love someone money is no object but it shoukl not be the only concern either! And with the cost of movies 1 a month is 20.00 for 2 people oe more and multiply that by 12 months... No 2500.00 is nothing!!

Are you complaining about spending the money? You see, when you love someone, you don't keep tract of $$. and $2500 yearly is about $200 month. Not a whole lot I would say...agree with you.

wow, $2500 is really a lot. i mean, it depends on your age, how much you make a year, and your level of disposable income. to me, $2500 would be absolutely crippling as i'm just a poor college student, but if you make a hundred grand a year and she means a lot, go for it

but don't ever forget that it's not the amount you spend, it's everything else...

Hmm, never added up how much I spend on my "dating significant" other.
That's probably about the right amount. Movies and dinner alone would cost that much, then there's the happy hour drinks, at home drinks, rent, cable, groceries, souvenirs (when one of us is out of town), renting videos, going out from drinks and pool.
Ya, its about the right amount to spend.

Do you mean this is what you've spent on her in a year? It's relative.....it depends on how much you have. If you're young and just starting out it's fine.....if you own your own company you can spend 4X this much on a weekend trip. But if she's in it for what you can buy her regardless of how much you have to spend she's not the one for you.
