It's because you're laying down. All the blood, acting with gravity, is settled on the wall of your vagina. When you stand up, you'll usually notice you get a sudden BURST of flow, maybe 10-15 minutes after you get out of bed, because now gravity is working to pull the blood out of you. It's as simple as that, I'm not a doctor but I promise you it's the truth, it happens to every woman on earth.

well it isn't gravity. Its the same as if your upside down, you can still swallow as the muscles work to push it in the direction its meant to go.
The real reason is the muscles relax and arn't as active as they are in the day. same goes for when your sitting down, your flow becomes lighter then if you for example stand up and run around you would get a lot heavier flow. some girls (like me) still get it through the first night or two and then as the period gets lighter it dissapears at night. :) quite normal.

That happens to me too.
I think it's to do with gravity. While you're horizontal, nothing drips down.
It's not because you stop bleeding, or anything, periods don't work like that.

because you are a lot more active during the day and your blood flows faster then.
