I'm a freelance studio photographer and these things have helped me:

Books:

"Photography" by Barbara London - this is a great fundamentals book that covers everything you need to know about the technique and process of photography.

"The Art of Seeing" by Freeman Patterson - this is a great book just about photography in general. No technique - just reconciling what you see and how to capture that in the camera. Photography is all about the idea behind the image and this offers a lot of good insight into that.

Web Sites: it depends on what sort of photography you are interested in creating.

http://www.photo.net - The best photography resource site around (voted #1 by Time magazine even) They have a *ton* of information about all aspects of the craft. I learned a lot here and it's all free.

http://www.dpreview.com - great digital camera reviews

Looking at the newstand for magazines that show the type of photography you want to create is wonderful. A lot of starting out as a photographer is imitating what you think fits the mold (and experimenting). After a while, you'll find your own voice and style.

Very well done. I like the way it is easy to navigate. I also like you images and feel you have what it takes to be an artist. Keep up the good work. The only thing I would suggest is to look at the pages for mistakes in grammar. Also if you can try to see if the sites that take you away from your site, Like you gallery and to purchase your work would redirect to your site instead of having to backtrack to your site, or you could have the links pop up to the new site. This way you never have your audience leave your site till they are ready. Your simplicity is the best with your site. People want to make their site flash these days and I think your site is better than the flash ones. I wouldn't change it. An artist's website is better to be simple as it helps to navigate. The only thing you could try is to replace the background with a snip of your work. Talk to a local web designer in how to incorporate your work into your website.

I WOULD PERSONALLY BE MORE INTERESTED IN TAKING A CLASS. THERE'S NOTHING LIKE BEING THERE AND HAVING AN EXPERT IN PERSON TO HELP WITH QUESTIONS AND TO GIVE GOOD ADVICE. I LOVE TO TAKE PICTURES AND IT'S NICE TO KNOW A FEW GOOD TRICKS! HAVE A GREAT TIME LEARNING...IT'S A BLAST!
