I had played football in 4th, 6th (forced to play volleyball in 5th), 7th, 8th, and 9th, all as a wr/db.... sophomore year was the first year I decided not to... What are your opinions about girls playing football? I'm somewhat biased, but also curious as to the overall opinion...feel free to express yourselves, because I won't hold it against you. There are certainly two sides to this issue....

It is if you can play then you can play. I see girls who do it and they get banged around and realise that it is not for them. I also don't want to feel as if I hit them they will cry, you have to be tough to play competitive football.

Ive been playing football since 4th grade. I've recently moved schools and both of them have had a girls football team and a mix. I also play in a football club which we train together but in matches it separate so no one gets benched because they aren't as good as 'the boys' because it's different teams. If your school doesn't offer a girls team then maybe try suggesting it to them, failing that then go for the team with the guys and try your best once the coach sees how good you are then he'll maybe let you try a match and won't bench you guys.

I think for a Jr. High or Highschool team girls playing football is just fine. It's once you get into college and especially the NFL where women just can't compete. At least not untill you can show me a 6'7" 295 pound woman who can run the 40 in under 5 seconds. And if you do find her...let me know so I can tell the Dallas Cowboys what's up. LOL

But like I said...in highschool the talent level is pretty even because boys don't have their growth spurt till later.

It is a good thing that women are starting to do things that women did do back then. Where I live we have a Pop Warner team that has 3 girls playing on the 11-14 year old football team.

I am Dennies mom...yep= I really am....

She is really awesome on the gridiron...everyone- gplayers, coaches and adults admired both her talent and her courage to get out there.

Last season, she became the first female to play in a varsity football game at her school- and she had a fumble recovery.

Yeah, I'm proud of her- more than she knows. She's got the guts to go out there and play with the big boys- and doesn't lose an ounce of her femininity in the process.

I'm going to miss freezing my butt off on the aluminum bleachers screaming for her this year!

Love ya' Boo!

Hey, in my yearbook from my freshman year of high school, in one of the pictures of the football players, a player sitting right in the middle of the picture was a girl. A senior and the only girl that played and I think it's great that she did, as was allowed to.

I think girls playing football is fine...but it should be left to an independant league so they can compete on as wide a scale as the boys do.

We have a ladies team. They travel far and wide to play...but they are good...and they have a lot of heart.

Words of an old man. Females should NOT play football, rugby, ice hockey or any other contact sport. Your insides are different young lady. Your uterus hangs by ligaments that can easily be damaged. There are plenty of good sweat producing sports that don't damage you.

Yes. However, everytime I've played pick-up games with women playing, too, I'm always carefull to watch where I put my hands and how hard I'm coming in when I'm tackling. I don't want to be slapped or beat-up. But, um, yeah, go for it and don't back down!

There are some women who are really good. This woman I worked with ... woooweee, you don't want to play against her. She can seriously hurt you. Then there are girls who can really run. If they are good, they should be able to play.
