Backround info: 2 years ago, I was driving with my older brother and his friend to Baltimore. We pulled over at a rest stop, and my brother got out. His friend said he was going to repark the car, but drove it into the forest where he raped me. We were unable to bring a sufficient case for rape however, and the friend left. My brother tracked him down without my knowing a week ago and shadowed him, and beat him up. Now my brother is in jail, and his trial is soon. His lawyer wont talk to me, so Im askng for help?: what is the worst that can happen? the best? most likely? for one thing, I need his income in addition to mine to put me through colledge, and support my little sister. I am not qualified to be a parent! (my parents are out of the picture)

Perhaps maybe you need to focus a little. What happened 2 years ago really has no bearing on the charges your brother faces today. You can find out what the charges are by calling or visiting the police department that currently has him locked up. You may also request a copy of the police report. There may be a fee of 1. per page. You can also ask when he will be going to court. Keep in mind the prosecutor has to prove the charges with witnesses otherwise it is the word of the guy who got beat up against your brothers word and that just does not hold up in court. I am not a lawyer but I wanted you to know at least this much.

Bless your heart. It depends if he was charged with a felony or a misdemeanor. Is this his first offense. What is your brother saying? Does he have a real lawyer or a public pretender? Also what do you mean you couldn't bring a case of rape against the supposed friend? I know that I am throwing a lot of questions at you.
Call legal aid and tell them your story, see if they can help. When your brother was charged officially in court they tell the possible sentences. I would guess if this was your brothers first offense and there was no serious injury or weapon he will be home soon. Good luck.

What was your brother thinking to do something so stupid? I understand he's angry and I understand that guy is truly evil, but what did he think would happen? Your brother should have a lawyer and you can talk to that lawyer about it, but at most the rape could be used to get sympathy from the jury. Most likely though, it won't even be allowed in. This is about your brother assaulting the guy. And you should go to the police and press charges, regardless of how much proof you have. At least it's on the books.

For one thing he(your brother) should get an award.I personally would have killed the bastard.Tell your brother that you want to speak to his lawyer,and he needs to tell him that it is okaye to talk to you.

if this is his first offense, most likely he will only get a slap on the wrist and told to stay away from the guy.
