if the mat is removable, either pull it out of the car and place in freezer until the gum has hardened completely, then chip it off the mat
or
just buy a new mat
if the mat is non-removable, use the ice method as previously described

Get an ice cube and freeze the gum (it will harden quickly)
Once it is really hard, you can easily pull it off the mat

to h e ll with peanut butter the ice and all these funny methods just replace the thing by your done scrubbing and fooling around by the time your done you have more of a mess than what you started out with and the labor cost going threw all that for gum i rather stand in line for 5 mins and pay for a new one

I once read that if you put ice on the gum to harden it, then it is easier to remove.
