Last night, a door of a car moved while I was getting into the back seat. The corner of the inside of the door caught me in the jaw just under my chin and I fell over. I saw stars!
I felt fine last night at first, but I woke up in the middle of the night throwing up, dizzy, unable to remember anything! Then, I woke up this morning with a headache, and i cannot remember anything after the injury. My friend says it is concussion, but I thought they only affected your head? Not your jaw. What could it be?

those symptoms are classic of those common to a concussion
i work in both neuro and trauma icu and you need to seek medical attention asap
anytime you experience dizziness,nausea/vomiting or a change in mental status (not remembering things/confusion) you need to have them examined b/c they are associated with injuries to the brain and can worsen rapidly.
you need to go the er immediately if you experience severe dizziness, vomiting or faitness again and have someone call 911 immediately if you pass out!!

Hmm.. im not an expert on head or jaw injuries. But usually when you have a concussion you cant see very well and you sometimes blackout. If the door hit your jaw your brain could've absorbed some of the shock and caused a concussion. But if you were drinking that night the trauma could've amplified the effects of the booze.

My mom had almost the exact same thing happen to her about a month ago. Yes that is a concussion and you can have feelings like that for up to a week. But I wouldn't fret too much because my mom was fine after that, she just didn't feel the greatest for a couple of days. If you are worrried you can go to the doctor to see what they have to say about how to act while you have a concussion.

I did something similar before (sottd up while working in my house, clocked the top of my head on the underside of a cabinet) and had similar symptoms. I went to a hosptial after I fell and passed out later, and they ran a catscan and said there was no evidene of permanent harm but I likely had a mild concussion. If the symptoms continue, go to your doctor or emergency room.
And ANY sharp blow to your head, including your jaw, can cause a concussion.

Yeah...it's not a concussion. You are right.....it would have to be a hit to your head. You were just knocked in the jaw so it's not a concussion. It still doesn't mean that you didn't jerk your neck and that could have a minor affect on your spinal cord and make you feel dizzy.

~~ it's possible that when you fell over you could have hit your head, or your recolection of what happened could be fuzzy and maybe you really did hit your head... if you are having symptoms of dizziness, headache, memory loss, you should get checked out by a Doctor. a concussion is a possibillity, after all your jaw is still part of your head ~~

Boxers are knocked out all the time by a blow to the jaw.
Some insurance companies have nurses you can talk to about your problem and what to do. Otherwise, go to your doctor or an urgent care facility. Emergency rooms are expensive.
