A gay bar may not be the best place to learn about the gay life. There are many resources on the internet for gay teens--you should start there. School counselors may not be the best people to talk to--I wish I could tell you different.

Wow - I've rarely seen so much bigotry and misinformation in one question!
First, lifestyle is the wrong word. You are either gay or not; it isn't a choice, it's just the way you are.
The easiest test is to masturbate - if you find yourself thinking about boys when you do this, you are most likely gay. If you are thinking about girls, you are most likely straight. If you think about a mixture, you might be bisexual.
If you feel you may be gay, and need to talk to someone about it, look up PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays). This national organization will be able to give you advice about how to contact local clubs that address issues and concerns for your own age group.
There are many gay clubs in most areas - from hiking and bowling through to sports teams and various dance forms (country and western and square dancing being the two most common ones). These clubs are typically open to all ages, often do not meet in bars, and can be a nice relaxing way to meet some other gay men around your own age without any pressure to date or have a sexual relationship.
If you are still at high school, check out if you have a gay/straight alliance at school, and also consider talking with the school counsellor.
Being gay is not a problem; but trying to live life as if you were straight when you are in fact gay, will cause all kinds of stress in your life, and often will lead to depression and damaging behavior.
Once you understand your own sexual identity, relax and enjoy it whatever it may be - you cannot change it.

A Peice Of Advice. If You Are In Highschool, Check Out Your Schools Clubs. MY HighSchool Has A Group For "Gay && Lesbien Support". And One For "Support Love". These Are Both Great Groups. Also If Your On Myspace, Look Thorugh Their Groups. Yahoo Groups Are Also Good. I Agree With The Statements About Gay Bars. They Arn't Worth It. Definatly Check Into School Groups, It Is A Great Place To Find Friends Who Are Supportive Of Your Sexuality. Just Remember, There Are Always People Who Are Too Scarred To Come Out Of The Closit. And Dont Let Haters Get You Down. It Is Your Body, Not Theirs.

Gay bars are not what there out to be. You have a wide vareity of men in them places. They are mainly there for one reason. You should never ever take your eyes off your drink. Someone is liable to drop a pill or powder in it. You will always hear and read about the great life with going to gay bars. You never hear about the bad part of them. Go to different sites on the internet that has other teens that are gay and chat with them and learm more about the gay life style if that is what your truely into. You can check to see if there are chat rooms in your town to chat with others your age that are gay. Just never give out your full name or phone number or address to anyone even if they say they are under seventeen years old. There are men out there that pretend to be a child so they can attract other children to them. Just be very careful what information you give to anyone on the net. Good Luck at finding others your age to teach you about what you need to know...

If you think you are gay try to get in contact with a support group for young gays, there are some on line. Play safe and you won't get any diseases. You do not have to get exploited. I like the gay lifestyle, people are more interesting and have more fun.
