Why do people feel the need to condeem gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, transsexual, intersexual people? How is that glorifying God? How is that doing any good in the world? Remember "treat others the way you want to be treated"? What is that saying you want to be treated when you call us perverts, accuse us of being the same as people who rape, or have sex with animals? What is that saying when you don't give us the same rights that you so openly abuse? The right to have a family of your own, while you abuse your children, neglect them? I'm not asking for much, just the same respect I show you, the same rights for my partner should I die, or one of us be seriously injuried to be able to see them in intensive care, the same rights that married heterosexual couples enjoy. I don't care what name it falls under, I just want to have the same rights. As a human being, a citizen of the United States, I want to be treated as a citizen, not a second class one.

To pamela, who asked what other rights are denied GLBT people. Marriage is NOT the only institutional inequality at present, despite what some people on BOTH sides seem to think. Military service is a big one: how can we expect a government to treat this group of people fairly in law when it won't treat them fairly in employment? There's a prison issue where ANYONE who's put into protective custody (and, if you're GLBT, you're going to need to be) loses access to many rehabilitation programs. People are still allowed to discriminate in many states in employment or housing; frankly that should be a no-brainer, but there's still states where that's ok. ANd the federal government has not added sexual orientation / gender identity to the antidiscrimination act. And there's the fact that people are still using "trans-panic" or "gay-panic" as a legal defense for killing other people. And getting away with it. Some couples have problems adopting, or being foster parents. These are all just LEGAL matters, not getting into societal matters (where, if I hold hands with my boyfriend the way you do, I'm asking to get beaten up and probably deserve what i get whereas you walk by unnoticed). There's plenty of rights that are denied me. And I personally might not be interested in excercising all of them, but that doesn't mean I'm ok with being treated differently from everyone else. One form of discrimination is bad enough, because THAT is a slippery slope leaving room for more in the future; if it WAS just marriage, that would be bad enough. But it's not just marriage.

This would be a good thing to put in a personal journal. The people that think you are right cannot really help anymore then becoming active in the community fighting for equal rights and the others are just ignorant to the issue and will not say anything helpful. Take Action.
Read what the Bible says about gay people:

I, for one do not condemn you or call you names. I hope and pray that you will ask God to give you strength to stop that and all sins and to live for Him. We all sin and all sins are equal. I personally put homosexuality into the same category as alcoholics and sex addicts, drug addicts, over eaters, etc. I believe we each have a certain sin that we have to work hard at to overcome, our cross to bear, our burden. There are special clinics for ppl to get help to get rid of their sin. Sin becomes habit and then addictive, God can give us strength to stop the craving of that sin if we ask for it and follow through with it. We can receive peace when we have accomplished this and see more clearly what God wants for us.I think ppl see homosexuality as a worse sin because it was talked about in the Bible where the Lord destroyed Sodom because of it.There aren't many other sins that are so boldly described.Maybe blasphemy and that is the only unforgivable sin. It sure is done a lot in the religious/spirituality category. Pray and find Peace and I will pray for your peace in God's will also!

What rights do you not have other than being able to married? Many companies now have insurance that will cover a gay couple, you can have a will that describes who you want to carry out your wishes. What exactly is it that you want? You are a citizen just the same as every one else, just not able to legally marry.

The behavior you describe in no way glorifies God. What the hateful disrespect for gay and lesbians does, when done in the name of God, is turn a lot of GLBT people and their friends and families away from religion and God.
Many of us know that our God is a loving and caring One, who will nurtue and guide us. We must never let a vocal minority on the political right hide behind religion in order to condemn us. Neither shall we allow them to turn us away from God.

Humans have an inherent need to hate to channel their frustrations their fears against others and modern Evangelical Christianity gives them an excuse an outlet for their hatred. With millions of Christians saying it is o-k to hate hatred grows freely unfettered by reason or rational thought. It truly should not concern anyone what someone else does with their body & by exstention their mind, but in time you will find most religions seek to control the minds of their subjects.

Why do gay people feel there is nothing wrong with what there doing. I had sex before I was married , I liked it , I new it was wrong and will admit it was wrong. I have lied in my life and can admit it is wrong. That does not mean that I wont do something wrong again just because I want to , but I can still admit its wrong. Why dont gay people say " hey I now its wrong but I like it and I'm not going to change". If my son tells me he is gay I will say " son you know thats wrong " And he will say "yes dad , but its what I want to do" and I will say " son I love you and hope you are happy" But I dont want people to tell my son its perfectly normal to be gay because its not.

You are correct we should treat others the way we want to be treated. I want to be treated like a child of God I would like to treat you that same way. If you are not a child of God yet because you refuse to follow his will I would like to offer you a chance to change that. That is not Hatefull or Condemning it is Love.
