Normally beta strep is easily treated while you are in labor. The risk is minimal if the doctor catches it early. My testing showed up positive so when I went to hospital to deliver baby - the gave me IV antibiotics. The baby didn't get an infection. As long as they can get those antibiotics in you at the right time - everything will be just fine. Even if the baby does get an infection the risk of permanent issues or death is minimal if you have a good hospital and neonatal unit to help.

they tell you something like 78% of women test positive...the actual risks, are small...my doc told me he only saw maybe a handful of actual problems because of it, and he was an obgyn for 20 some years..all they do is put an iv full of antibiotics into you before you give birth. don't worry...it will all be okay.
