How have other women coped with this disorder and are there any that have become cured after reaching menopause?

Amazingly enough Hippocrates described a condition that occurred before menses, in which women felt suicidal and had other severe symptoms. In 1931, Frank coined the term premenstrual tension syndrome. Frank first described PMS 70 years ago.

The symptoms must be severe enough to interfere with occupational and social functioning, as opposed to the more common premenstrual syndrome (PMS).

Stress makes the symptoms worse. That's all we need to hear with the pressures women are under these days.

I'm sure you know very well what you are dealing with, but here is a site you may want to check: http://www.emedicine.com/med/topic3357.htm

PMDD tends to worsen with age. Sorry about that. During menopause it tends to worsen, but then 50% of the time gets better.

I suffer from severe PMS, not exactly PMDD, and I take 200 mg of Zoloft and 150 mg of Wellbutrin everyday, and it keeps me sane 24/7. I am looking forward to menopause, because it can't be worse -- I hope!
