When I was in graduate school (I majored in clinical psych), I kept a dream journal during this insight-oriented therapy course I was taking. I was pregnant my last year of graduate school, and my daughter was born two months after graduation. Therefore, while pregnant, and during this course, I had some pretty vivid dreams. In one dream, I dreamt that my daughter had been born, but she came out talking. She refused to breastfeed, and only wanted to drink orange soda pop and bacon bits! She said to me in the dream "I don't want none of that shriveled up titty. Give me some orange soda and bacon bits aaaaiiight?" Well I actually discussed this with my professor and she informed me that I may have some deep seated fear that my daughter would turn out like my teenage clients that I was counseling during my internship. And these kids were bad!!!!! Juvenile offenders, juvenile sex offenders, and very aggressive. They also used to threaten me and wished ill upon my pregnancy and birth. My dreams were centered around mammals protecting their young. For instance, I dreamt of a female cat, protecting her kittens. I think there is definitely some insight into the interpretation of dreams. Have you read Memories, Dreams and Reflections by Carl Jung yet? It's lengthy reading, but quite interesting.

I did keep one when I was in late teens early twenties. I am sure I still have it somewhere.9or maybe I dreamt that I saw that journal somewhere!) There aren't too many in there, but I remember reading them some years later and thinking, 'I didn't dream that!" Actually they made more sense later than at the time they were dreamt.
I remember those dreams more than others I have had since. Except for the one 10 years ago that came true. Never expected that.
I think it is a good idea but I wouldn't dwell on them too much. Go back to them later. Just like the bible and astrology, they can be interpreted many ways I am sure. But definitely fun and interesting if you have the time.

Dreams are past present and future. Remembering them may help you in life but I wouldn't keep a journal, somebody might read it and I'll be in a lot of trouble.

Actually, I just bought one and have been keeping track for 3 days-it's interesting because the themes have all been similar. It's quite intriguing and entertaining. The book I have suggests to do it over a period of time and see what keeps cropping up. I think either way, it helps to get emotions and feelings out to the surface where we can deal with them.
