Fun question...

When my husband proposed to me, he went to the trouble to create a rather elaborate set-up. Several months before proposing, he bought 7 wooded acres outside of town (it's a small town) to build his "dream house" on. For him, it was a move that meant he was really ready to find a wife and settle down, have a family, etc. When he knew he was going to ask me to marry him, he came up with something really cool. He did the usual stuff, talked to my parents without me knowing about it, got the ring taken care (had an antique diamond reset in a style he knew I liked, etc.) Next, he spent a day at his 7 acre property clearing a long pathway to the very back near the creek than ran through it. And when I mean spent a day, I mean he went out there with a couple of friends who helped him and they all spent all day making this path. After that, he filled up innumerable paper bags with sand and candles to make luminaries and made arrangements with one of the friends and his wife to go back to the property and light them at dusk. He also set up a picnic area, with blanket, more candles, music, etc. We already had a "date" set up for that night and I thought we'd just be going out for dinner. When he picked me up he suggested I put on some jeans because we might be going out to the property and I was like, "What? At night? With the bugs and the frogs?" He said, "We'll pick up a pizza and find a place to eat it." The pizza was fine, but on the property? Reluctant, resistant and clueless, I finally agreed. When we got to the property it was pitch black (life in the country, you know?) except for what looked like something glowing which I could see from the road. When we got out of the car and started walking toward the light, it was like gliding through an enchanted forest with all those luminaries lit. I don't think I've ever seen anything so wondrous. The rest, is pretty standard. We ate pizza, talked, danced and then somewhere in the middle of that he pulled the ring out of his pocket.

We built a house on that seven acres, have been married 13 years and have 4 kids. It's neat to take them for walks and show them "the spot" where he proposed.

Good luck and congratulations.

My husband got over 300 roses and a bunch of candles. He made a path that lead into our bedroom so when I came home from work I had to follow the path and there he was in a suit he had rubben studdard playing and he was on his knees and he told me so many beautiful things and how much he loved me and I told him yes and on my bed was nothing but rose pedals and well lets just say that the roses were sticking to my back if ya know what I mean.. That was the most romantic thing. I wouldn't have wanted it in public because it would have made me feel nervous with everyone watching. Good luck!

This happened to one of my friends - Her boyfriend sent her on a scavenger hunt around town. He gave people at bossiness that she liked clues in envelopes. She would have to go in, ask for a clue and then go to the next place. She ended up at a romantic restaurant where he was waiting for her. He had invited her family to be there and they were sitting at a table where they could see the action, but not be seen. He popped the question on his knee in the restaurant, and then her family came out to congratulate her. It was quite a bit of work and planning on his part, but she said yes, and she has a great story to tell for the rest of her life. And yes, women want a good/romantic story.

My husband took me for a walk on a rural road where I grew up. He pulled the ring from the pocket of his jeans and got down on his knee on the side of the road. It was great! While he was on his knee he was saying all kinds of beautiful things, and the reasons why he loved me. I wish I could remember them all! A proposal can be simple and from the heart and still be terrific.

Your girl is luck to have a guy that wants to make her feel special. Good luck!

First of all, do it for no reason, i.e. not for her birthday, or any holiday. Pick a random day, and make it a complete surprise. Secondly, be ROMANTIC!!! I don't know your financial situation, but that does matter, as far as how you can do it. A nice, inexpensive way would be to take her to the beach, walk far down away from everyone, and get down on your knee. No matter what, GET DOWN ON YOUR KNEE!! =) Trust me, it matters!
Or you could do it in front of all your friends, or family, at a nice restaurant,...the possibilities are endless. I know a couple who got engaged on a private airplane, where they flew past a billboard that said, will you marry me?. That could get pricey!
My husband proposed to me in a limo, in front of friends, and that was just fine!
Good luck, and congratulations!

If you are asking for a way to propose, make it personal to you and your girlfriend.
If she likes to be the center of attention, propose to her in public. Like at a amusement park or at a baseball game or whatever hobby you enjoy sharing together.
If you guys spend time with your families, plan a family dinner at your home and propose in the presence of your families.
If she is a private person, take her away for a romantic weekend and propose at an intimate moment.
I'm sure she will love it as long as it comes from your heart.
Congratulations and best wishes for a long life of happiness.

This is the short version of the story, but it demonstrated his commitment to the long term. 1) He asked my dad's permission. 2)he bought the ring. 3)He bought a piece of land 4)he planted 200 tiny pine saplings on the land 4) so far I dont know anything. Then he took me there and said he bought this land for us to retire on, and in 40 years, when the trees were large enough, he would build me a log cabin if I would marry him.

Go to where she works. Take a CD player. Before she sees you, put the CD player up loud with Etta James singing "At Last", then walk up to her (in front of God and everybody!) hand her 1 rose, get down on one knee (trust me...women ALL want their man to get down on one knee when they ask) pull out the ring, and say a little speech and then ask her to marry you. When she says yes, start dancing to the song....it's a BEAUTIFUL song that says everything you SHOULD say to someone you want to marry...........*sigh* lucky girl

Well, my husband proposed to me from his hospital bed - after he had taken a bullet for me. Literally.

We had been victims of a drive by shooting - a random gang initiation - and they singled our car out and pelted it with bullets. He was shot twice while covering my body with his own. He saved my life so I gave it to him for keeps.

We were married two years to the day later.

If your proposal is heartfelt that is what will make is special.

bring her to a romantic restaurant. you learn to play piano or perhaps guitar and sing her favorite song.

arrange with the restaurant management to allow you play the piano and sing. put a slide show that shows all the Pictures of you and her. all the funny, romantic and memorable Picts.

bring her there one special night, sing for her while the slide show is played. at the end of the song n the slide, ask her "will you marry me?" come to her and show her the ring.

i bet she'll say "yes!"

good luck
