Best rivers or creeks for wading within two hours of San Francisco..?

Looking for rivers or creeks that are relatively safe for kids 5 - 9 to wade in. Thoughts?

The santa cruz mountains/ San Lorenzo Valley. Hwy 9 from Boulder Creek to Santa Cruz. There is a great spot on Hwy 9 just past Felton called The Garden of Eden. My kids go there when it is hot and hang out at the river. If your in Felton, just stop in anywhere and the locals will tell you exactly where it is. It always has a bunch of cars in the pullout .
