A liar can feel guilty for lying, but not always. If someone lies all the time, they get caught out eventually and ppl cant trust them anymore. My girlfriend lied all the time and I would get paranoid about everything she did. Now, is that my insecurity or just the fact that I didnt have the guts to leave someone I couldnt trust. If a liar gets away with lying, they can actually feel good about themselves for it, and will then lie more and more to cover up the first lie. This is where pathological lying begins.

I believe it depends on the type of lie. I know a man who tells lies instead of the truth to cover up his failure to show up at events or get-togethers. He lies to protect the people and himself for the moment. All of his "friends" know that he lies alot. He gets into alot of arguments and they distrust him. He is punished by society when caught. He is lacking a sense of morals, so he does not have an inner disciplinarian. It comes from outside sources.

I think all of the answers are great. I would like to sum it up, by saying, that lying is a conscious level of, "the ch allege within their glass house" meaning that, just by saying a lie, that puts closure in their "pathetic mind" that, as long as they say something, then that is all they have to say. So in just, their job is over with, in their quest for validation, So now, it's their objective is to tell people what they want to hear. Now it's our job to believe or digest that information. What's easier, to believe what we say, or to believe what had been sad"
