I just started taking birth control pills on July 4th, 2006. I was due to ovulate on or around July 17. I had unprotected sex on the 16th and the 18th. The issue is that I took my pills late on all three days. Is it possible that I could be pregnant?

Birth control pills are not effective until you've taken them for an entire month. Your healthcare provider should've told you to use an additional form of protection during your first month of pills.

Skipping even one pill can bring on ovulation (the way the pill works is that it tricks your body hormonally into believing that you are pregnant, preventing ovulation).

You should DEFINITELY take a pregnancy test. Always use additional birth control for the remainder of the month if you miss a pill.

Good luck.

it is always possible you could be pregnant, even while taking the pill...and since you weren't really taking them long enough for it to build up in your body there is even more of a chance that you could become pregnant. This is not to say you are. don't worry, not until you start showing symptoms at least.

Yes, but it will probably be a "late" pregnancy.
