I think your Mother is partly right. Some of the choices we make are because of the mistakes we made. Then there are some things that go wrong that we have no control over.Think your choices through carefully before doing anything. Then if you choose the wrong thing no one else can be the blame. As far as your Mom kicking you when your down,Are you gonna stay down or are you gonna get up and try again?Making mistakes is part of life, but we are suppose to learn from our mistakes and do our best not to repeat them.

If you don't think through a situation all the way to your future and see what consequences will affect your life then, you are unable to make a great decision. There isn't luck. You may make a choice to be good and never do things to get into trouble. You decide to get in a car with friends who pick up a guy that is pretty rough. If you do not get out of the car, then you have ruined your chance to be good. If you get out of the car in a bad area then you didn't make a good choice. If you decide to get out in a safe place(store, gas staion that you can go inside of) and call home for a ride, then you made a great choice and it will enforce your decision to be good. If you stay in the car he and his friends will think you are open to their way of life and many things can go wrong there. If your good friends see you with this guy they will think that you have gone wild. You may think that if they think that I may as well go for it, I'm getting accused of it anyway!. If you get out in an unsafe area anything could happen including rape, kidnapping,or death and all of these affect your future.Just try to think through the next few hrs before you make decisions. It can be a life changing choice, like the one I just gave you, and you never would have thought going out with gf could turn out that way! Best wishes to your future and have the safest fun you can now!

I think that to a certain extent, we are responsible for what happens in our lives, but then again, there is a little thing called luck and sometimes we just don't have it. At times like that, it is our responsibility to make that situation better and not dwell in the crappiness of it all. I don't think that there is any definite yes or no answer.

I think we have to take responsibility for everything that happens in our lives, good or bad. Yeah sometimes life kicks you in the a** but the majority of the time it's how you react to the bad luck that determines the outcome of your life.

She is mostly right. Most of the "Bad Luck" in our lives has something to do with the bad decisions.
But it sounds like you're still learning from experience. Many times we make bad decisions because we are not looking at the situation we are in realistically, many of us tend to be overly romantic or just not paying attention to details of circumstances.

I think luck has nothing to do with anything and everything happens for a reason. If you make a bad choice you learn from it and that makes it worth something.

Sometimes things just go wrong and we're not the ones to blame. Some ppl give the devil too much credit. They say things like, the devil's messin with me.All because they're lights got cut off or somthin. But its there fault because they didnt pay the darn bill.

Per Kabbalah believe...which I tend to believe, yes, if we give bad/dark in this world, we recieve bad/dark in this world. IF we give light/love/understanding we will get the same... it completes the circle of life we live and follows the thought that there are universal truths that we must learn

Some things we are responsible for, like the bad choices we make, but other things aren't our fault, like accidents or other people's choices. I guess it just depends on your situation.

You are responsible for your life. Others may give advice, but you choose what to listen to and what to ignore.
John F Kennedy once said "Success has a thousand fathers, failure is an orphan."
