Over the course of the last year and a half my periods have been really off. I had 2 in March of 2005, then skipped April '05 all together. May and June was normal, but then last July & Aug nothing. Sept, I had two and Oct I went for two weeks straight. November I skipped .... well, you get the jist. This has continued ever since. Last year I was under a lot of stress and my doctor said that was probably what it was, but now my life is pretty settled but my periods have not. This month I had a ten day period, was off for 3 days, then started again for 4 more days, was off for 5 days, had sex and have once again restarted. This is really a pain!!! Someone please tell me what is going on with me? I don't have cramps, but never have in the past either.

in one of your postings you said that you were somehow depressive and were wondering how you look like. now you tell us that your periods are f***ed up...

give yourself a break! if you go on beating yourself up and always ask if there's something wrong with you, how are you supposed to believe that everything is all right?

your symptoms seem to be psychosomatic, so let it go! be self-confident, start loving yourself, everything is ok with you, you're not the only one that asks if she's pretty or not and that has skipping periods. your symptoms aren't unique but you as a person are and you definately are not your symptoms.

i keep my fingers crossed for you that you get out of that hole you're starting to dig... the first step might be that you change your nick from 'hopeless' to something more positive ;)

Unfortunately only your doctor is truly qualified to diagnose or treat your problem, but I can give you some hints.

Stress, diet, and activity levels can all affect your periods regularity. Even lack of sleep can mess it up! My periods can only be regulated by birth control. Perhaps this is an option you should consider. Birth control helps regulate your period by specific hormone doses on a daily basis except for the week of the inactive pills.

When I was placed on birth control it immediately regulated my period. I started having a lighter flow and no cramping. I have been on brth control for 8 years except for the nine months when I was pregnant with my son. And the only reason I got pregnant while on it was because I was unaware my antibotic I took for an infection lowered it's effectiviness.

I hope this helps!!!

I am very sorry to hear this. You said you have asked your gynecologist? How many have you asked? Try to get as many answers as possible. Have you done research on the web? Or studied books in your library? Don't be ashamed to ask questions or check out books on what you're going through. Remember that every girl has her period. Write down all of your history on how your periods are. When you do this the gynecologist can understand more than if you told him/her. They deal with this stuff often. However since yours is a special case, write down as much stuff that can help them... and in turn...YOU. Good Luck. And God Bless!

I was once in this situation and my doctor finally did a dnc to clean any tissue that was triggering all this. We changed my birth control several times but it did not work, dnc was the only alternative left and then after I healed from all that I became normal every month, never have stopped flooding but I always have done that. You do have a gynocologist? Thats who finally helped me not my family dr.

It sounds hormonal. Of course, it might be perimenopause - depending on your age.

The #1 hormone - because it can affect the production of all the other hormones - is insulin. Ask your doctor for a fasting insulin blood test . Ask for a copy of your results. 10 or higher is abnormal for an adult.

Also ask for a saliva test. This test will tell you if any of your feminine hormones are not at the best levels. I do not like doctors who prescribe hormones for feminine problems without testing first. When that happened to me - the shot he gave me switched me from low blood sugar to diabetes.

You may want to check out www.hufa.org, and click on the symptoms link to check yourself out.

Been there, done that... I'm a college student, and even tho you don't think you're stressed, your body does... Hormones react to everything that goes on in your life, and the only thing that helped me regulate was birth control... It takes your body about 3 months to adjust to BC, then you're home free... Good Luck!!

Stress can cause your periods to become irregular as well as harmone changes. You should see your doctor and have them check your harmones. It could just be the way your periods are something medical such as a ovarian cyst or fibroids.

I suggest going to see the Dr if you have not already. I also recommend getting on BCP as this will help regulate your period. Are you on any medications?? This could also cause them to be off. Good Luck!!
