Hey sweety, dont sweat it too much, as I'm sure you know, all girls go through this. Your not alone. I was about your age when I started my period too. I told my mom right away, she had the best advice for me. If you can't do that then go to a trusted adult... someone you can trust. This is just a part of getting older, now you have reached sexual maturity... all I can offer you are the basics. 1. You will not have regular periods for a while... but after some time they will probably last for 5-7 days and then you will have time between periods that last about 23-28 days. 2. Some times you will have very heavy flow... a lot of bleeding... dont worry about this, its normal. Other times it will be light.. 3. Some women experiance cramps... for example back aches or stomach cramps... these are nothing to get all worked up about, simple house-hold pain releavers can help those, but make sure you follow the directions of the bottle and make sure an adult knows your useing the medicine. 4. If you haven't already, you will start to experiance mood swings. These may sometimes be very sever... you may find your self wanting to cry about every small little thing.. thats ok... just make sure to try your hardest not to lash out at anyone. :) 5. Make sure you always carry pads (or tampons, which ever you are more comfortable with... pads are better for first timers) with you in case of emergencies. Good luck and God Bless you on your new adventure to becoming a woman.

Hi. There is no need to be scared. And I'm not sure what you're scared about. Talk to your mom, a female friend who is already on her period, a female teacher, or some other woman you trust. After this, you will not be scared at all. I was not scared at first, but I was quite upset. It's a natural process for females and you are gonna be just fine!

Nothing to be scared of - women have been doing this since the
species began. Nothing to be ashamed of. Nothing to be scared of.
Perfectly natural.

However, you should probably get the equipment and some guidance
from someone older with some experience.

Is your mother or an older sister kicking around? If not, how about a
trusted friend's mom?

Not a big deal - really.

Welcome to the sisterhood!

Hon, there's nothing to be scared about. When I started I lived with just my Dad, and when it happen to me, I just came out and told him. He knew it was coming sooner or later, and just helped me through it the best he could. For me it was a little embarrassing because I started before some of my friends, and if they were close enough friends I told them about it, if not, I kept quiet. This is something that will take (possibly) a couple years to get the hang of completely, but my advice is to start off using a pad. If and when you decide to use a tampon, use a liner with it to avoid any embarrassing leaks.

I'm 12 and I started my period 4 months ago and I know how you feel. What I did was I told my older sister and she taught me everything to do. If you have and older sister, gal pal, or some girl that you look up to, ask them what you should do; and until then just relax your part of the female cycle now so enjoy it!

don't be scared, be excited! this is a major step in the rest of your life as a woman! all you have to do is get to the store and buy some pads. you could do tampons if you wanted but i'd recommend pads first. get a friend you know who's already started, or your mom, to show you how to use them. congratulations though!

There is nothing to be scared of. Its a natural thing. First, tell your mother (or father or guardian) if you have not already. They can take you to the store to get either pads or tampons. Congratulations! your a young woman now.

Eleven is a normal age to start your period. Get some Kotex and talk to your Mom. You'll be fine.
