I just read someone's question: why do Vegetarians feel the need to condemn meat-eaters. It made me think of the conversation I had with my daughters today. My daughter is a vegetarian, but I am not. She is a vegetarian because it bothers her for an animal to have to give its life to feed her. But she doesn't talk about it to others. In fact, she's kind of secretive about it because as soon as someone finds out she's a vegetarian they tell her things that really bother her like, "I love meat, couldn't live without it" or they'll tell her a story of how they lived on a farm and killed lots of animals. Just stories that in general bother her. Why do meat-eaters feel the need to gross out a vegetarian?

My sibling is a vegetarian. I think people do this because vegetarians are usually vegetarians for a reason and those who eat meat usually don't have a complex reason. Thus people feel they need to challenge someones opposing ideals and beliefs. Apparently it is human nature to confront others personal beliefs.

I think it is ignorance. Meat-eaters cannot fathom life without meat and vegetarians feel for the animals that are killed to eat, so they don't eat them. It comes down to respecting someone else's preferences. Both sides have good reason's as to why they choose to eat what they eat. My sister is a vegetarian and I respect her enough when I have her over for dinner. We have no-meat dishes, that we enjoy and she get's to eat with us, instead of bringing her own food.
Like everything else, everyone needs to be tolerant of others. Making those comments from either side is only causing resentment.

Because vegetarian need a reality check. Do you think their are bears or lions or tigers that are vegetarians? NO! Cause they are at the top of the food chain. It's the natural circle of life for us to eat animals. Cause we're at the top of the food chain. If a bear told its parents that it wanted to be a vegetarian, momma bear and poppa bear would kick it's a**. Cause animals will always be killed for food, and you can either eat it or someone else will and it won't make a difference if you're a vegetarian how many animals get killed.

1) They could have come across a lot of Militant Vegetarians, the card carrying, 'I am ordering the veggie burger because I am a vegetarian' style and they are tired of being treated like their choice is wrong.

or
2) They are deep down wondering about the killing of the animals and are being loud and obnoxious to cover up their fears.........

I am a vegetarian and my family always says stupid and nasty things to me about meat .
I think meat-eaters do that because they think it is stupid to be a vegetarian and think it is so strange .
