Everybody has roots. Many people of the US can trace theirs to another country if they go back far enough. My family name goes back to Welch/Scottish roots, I am like most US citizens, a 57 Variety, made of native American, Scottish, and Welsh blood. I had family involved in the American Revolution; my family surname appears throughout this country's history even on the Declaration of Independence. Some of my ancestors received land grants for their Revolutionary War service.
I had 2 Uncles at Iwo Jima (WW2), both were shot & seriously wounded there but recovered. Both were proud to just do their job. Another cousin died at Pearl Harbor when the Japs attacked. Other uncles served in the European theater, one being one of the first GIs to cross the Rhine River with Gen. Patton. Some cousins served in Viet Nam, my father served in the early 1950's during Korea. Our name was there with Lewis & Clark, during the American Civil War, and I could go on. Deep roots in our country, would you agree?
US culture is the envy of the world, contrary to what you may think, or what web blogs, liberals or their newspapers/magizines and politicians would have you believe. Blue jeans are worn around the world, our music plays everywhere, McDonald's are worldwide, you name it and our influence is there, worldwide. English is the language of the business world; if you fly anywhere in the world the aircraft pilot and his co-pilot speak English. The science community worldwide speaks English as it's common language because contrary to news reports again we lead the world in science. We feed the world's hungry, medicate the worlds children, giving without expecting a thing or payment in return, including not a single thanks. US citizens and our corporate citizens are the most generous in the world. Shut off our food supplies to the middle east and let them eat sand. They'll come around.
The world as we know it today is largely due to the US rebuilding it after WW2. We helped Japan, Germany, England, France, Italy and numerous other countries to rebuild and become productive world players.
The president has a tough job. He depends upon intelligence that has been hampered since the early 1970's when the Democratically controled senate and congress restricted the CIA and other intelligence gathering agencies after Watergate, which was a major overaction to that situation and to which other remedies were available. Iraq had 90 days notice that we were coming, and being the size of Californa there was plenty of time and area to hide weapons or move them to another location like Syria. Have you not seen the things we have uncovered in the desert like advanced MIG fighter jets that were not supposed to be there? Advanced radar jamming devices that were Russian made they were not supposed to have? Or weapons French made that were illegal contraband? Could it be that either France nor Russia did not want to be "outed" by participating in the toppling of Sodamed Insane (not a misprint but my opinion of him and you did understand who it was I'm sure)
In any case, recent "revelations" by the news media disclosing how our intel is tracking such terrorist activities was, and will be shown to be a major mistake in the name of "journalism" and selling newspapers- no wonder the news media is losing subscriptions, they lack credibility. With freedom of the press comes the responsiblity of accurate reporting, in which they fail miserably. Ever hear of "Loose lips sink ships."? In WW1 or WW2 such a thing would be treason, telling the enemy our next move and our war plan, placing our military personal at additional risk and actions that, in WW2 would have hampered all efforts to stop the tyrants Hitler and Musilini. Shame on the media.
You have the right to not like President Bush, but you also have an obligation to learn all the facts and truth possible before you shoot from the hip and shoot yourself and maybe me in the foot. Put your brain in gear before engaging your mouth. Too many people are willing to get on the "chicken little" bandwagon without looking at the facts first to see what is really happening; mindless babble it is. There are a number of facts that we are not privy to that President Bush is. Even Clinton & Gore when they were in power said Sodamed Insane must be stopped, that he had in fact WMD and had used them in the past.
History recalls presidential candidate John F. Kennedy mouthing off about President Dwight D. Eisenhower during the presidential race against candidate Vice President Richard M. Nixon. Kennedy won the election and, upon becoming president, had to swallow crow as he learned he was wrong and now understood why President Eisenhower was taking the actions he took in world events. He also took up the banner of Eisenhower and sent troops into Cuba and, partly on flawed intelligence which resulted in a fatally flawed mission. President Kennedy also sent "advisors" into Viet Nam, and President Lyndon B. Johnson esclated that action. What I want to see is that when we send in troops anywhere, send them in to win and nothing less, ignoring the "political correct" rants of of people like "Wild Man Yahoo" Howard Dean, Barbra "the mouth" Streisand, and their kind.

No history? No culture? I know who and where my ancestors came from. I am part native American and British. I have records on my family back to the year 1140. How much more history do I need. And being mixed up tribes is one of the things that makes being an American wonderful.

Well, I'm American. Let's see....my roots are Italian and German. My culture is thousands of years old (farming), history???? 225 years of American History. Tribes?? This late in the evolutionary game almost all peoples are 'mixed up'...and President Bush?? I did not vote for him, but I certainly have the right to vote, not all people can say that!!
So, that's how it feels........pretty darn good.

We do have roots. and we are planting more. plenty of culture because we have every single culture out there existing in one place. plenty of history too and making more as we speak. most of us like Bush, and you sound like a jealous person or one of much ignorance. we AMERICANS are like a box of crayons. many different colors and we all fit in the same box.
