I used to do this game with my kids when they were young....it's a lot of fun and they have to be SOOO quiet.
Take the sound device out of a musical greeting card. Hide the device in a room...the kids have to track it down by listening and following the song it plays.
You can make it easier or harder depending where you hide it...on a flat surface will make it louder...on a rug or cushion will soften the sound.
For a few dollars spent on a card, you'll get at least an hour of silent playing...a bargain in anyones book!

Coloring and painting with blank paper is a good one. Kids really love it especially if your right their with them doing it. Helps with small motor skills if their young and will help them with learning to write and draw later on. Even doodling.
Take them to the park. Exercise is great and its the one place my kids never get bored of and want to leave. Helps with large motor skills.
water fights. squirt guns water balloons a sprinkler
Do try to keep them off of video games and cartoons its mind numbing and it doesn't help them to use their imaginations like free play does. Probably why their bored in the first place.
Good luck

Have them make cutouts from paper; you know, printer size paper, fold it a bunch of times and have them use safety scissors to cut bits out and unfold to see what creations they've made; if they're old enough, have a scavenger hunt in the house; give each kid a list and make them find everything on their own list; give a prize after wards! This one give you some time to relax if it's a pretty long list!

STAR CHART!
Every time they do something good, give them a star, every time they are bad, take one off. Set a goal for the stars like a toy or a video game once they get so many stars. Let them put the stars on and take them off.
I don't know about boredom, but if they are misbehaving all you have to say is we're going to take off a star and they straighten up quick.

Play some board games.
Once they get bored of that, just let them watch television, movies or play video games. They're not your kids, so it shouldn't matter as much.

i give'em color crayons and white paper...and i doodle with them and they enjoy it. (they're like 2 and 4). they come to MY place, so their parents will bring their kids fave toys like blocks, puzzles and a couple books for me to read to them.
we play hide and go seek, and when that gets boring make them a snack

I take them for walks and give them drawing paper and crayons. I also let them help me make cookies and a few other things. Sometimes, I take them to the park.
