My mom has a folder of about 500 pictures on her computer from a vacation. Is there a way I can upload the folder to the internet or something so i can get it onto my computer.

This can be really easy if you just have the Firefox web browser and a Gmail (google mail) account.
Basically there's this Firefox extension called "gSpace" and it uses your gmail account as virtual space on the internet. What the heck does that mean in english? It means that you can use the extension to upload her pictures to your gmail account and then download them onto your computer using that same extension (on your firefox browser at home.)

Send me an email (click on my picture and then click "contact me") if you want to try my idea. Otherwise it would be a waste of time to write it all down here.

YOU want to upload, it means YOU have her computer right now. The thing to transfer files:
1) USB~USB - but must have a USB LINK Cable (not just a simple usb cable. Don't link directly USB to USB!, you need USB LINK for this purpose).
2) FLASH USB - the easiest and the simplest.
3) LAPLINK Cable - "similar" to parallel cable.
3) Modem~modem - you can make a dial-up, even without Internet, but you must have 2 telephone lines, 2 modems each for computer.
4) MSN, Yahoo Messenger - if both can have Internet.

I believe you will use 2 (or maybe 3) if you have her computer or 4 if computers are far...

yes
there is always a way

it may be a lot simpler to burn a CD and mail it (or carry it) to your computer

there are several websites that do picture hosting and you can set up your own website with many providers that include picture hosting

many times these have limited storage available so with 500 pictures you might have to split it up

it will save time if you compress a bunch of pictures into a single compressed folder (windows has a utility for this)

good luck

she can send you the photos..or you can send them to yourself. If you have a dvd burner..that is one way..another way is to send them as files thru your email accounts

a better way..and MUCH faster..is to go out and purchase an External Hardrive..plug it in..turn it on..and open it up using the "Menu" section ...look under "My Computer"..and find your "C" drive...the External should be right next to it....Itll be called "#1" or something like that?? Youll see it

anyway..open it..and then open up the "My Pictures" icon..youll see it right by the "My Computer". When you have both open..simply drag and drop the files..photos ..or folders into the External.after...just turn it off and your done..then repeat steps to install them to your computer..ok?

If you want to upload it, you can use photobucket.com. They let you upload tons of photos, and use them for linking, also. If you just want to dump the folder on the internet, filelodge.com should work.

It's a laptop? Can you get it near your computer? Have you got a network?

How about a thumb drive? You probably can't fit all of them on one, but 1 Gig thumb drives are not overly expensive.

Does she have a CD burner, or better yet, a DVD burner on her laptop/computer? Same remarks as thumb drives, but CD's are very cheap.

You'd be better off, quality wise to have someone burn a disc of her pictures for you, you burn your own disc, or copy onto a zillion mini discs!

My friend really likes gmail though. Maybe this would be an EM program to use.....

I tried

Sorry

She can send them to you via e-mail. Only a couple at a time though.
