If they are able to develop nuclear technology, are they developing anything else of interest? Is it likely to kickstart a technical revolution in the country? Serious answers only please.

I'm actually thinking more about 'civilian' technology and if there has been any spin off effect from the push to go nuclear.

As far as I know, they are using uranium for these nukes, and to gain it requires little technology, only the machinery to extract it from the Earth and enrich it. For such a technology revolution you speak of, Iran would require a relatively stable democratic society, which it doesn't have, a stable, relatively wealthy population, which it also doesn't have, as well as other factors including supply and demand, and trade, which, if the recent history of the country is anything to go by, is up the creek without a paddle. Basically, a country that puts nuclear weapons development before the development of the social, political and economic problems it faces, it simply won't have "good" technology i.e. it is not high on the HDI (human development index).

Many Iranian scientists were once trained in the US on nuclear technology in around 70s(probably). The idea was to have them use nuclear energy and sell their oil to us. They're probably not doing very well in science and technology, but their nuclear technology was once aided by us.

i think it's pretty mediocre.. israel could take them on if they wanted to..
they don't have nuclear arms yet, and when Hezbellah is destroyed by israel (and that obviously will be the outcome), Iran will be locked into their own country and isolated.. unless Syria does something of significance.. highly doubtful though... eh, yea..
i wouldn't worry about Iran's technological capabilities to much.. I'd worry about N. Korea and Syria (and even China) first and foremost...

I don't know about their technology but one thing I do know they have contributed to your civilisation so that you could feel smug about every thing and feel superior then them, I think not,
