Im a conservative but they way he goes about expressing his beliefs bothers me. I dont believe in homosexuality and i have my doughts about this war but come on protesting at soldies funerals thats wrong. Im a patriot and what he says about this country (U.S.A) PISSES MY OFF. If i ever met him in public i would kick his and his son ***. Protesting is ok going to funerals and telling the poeple that there child and loved ones are going to hell is wrong, funerals are not for the deciced so much as for there loved one to morn so let them do so in peace

Because all the people who feel most like shooting Fred Phelps don't believe in owning guns. If I believed in shooting people, Fred would be at the top of my list.

My favorite surreal moment at the Democratic Convention in Boston, 2004:
Fred Phelps is up on stage at the "Free Speech" area (no genuine liberal protestor came within miles of that place), spouting his usual "Gays burn in Hell" garbage, when Randall Terry (yes, Operation Rescue Randall Terry) starts yelling at Phelps, telling him "God is about love, he's not about hate."
And then Phelps and Terry start shouting at each other, arguing who is a better Christian. Great bizarre moment.

How are we to know the face of goodness if we do not also know the face of evil?

The Rev. Phelps is evil, and uses the Scripture as a weapon against the world. His so-called "church" consists almost entirely of his own family and their spouses and children.

do you feel the same way about funerals of gay men? he's been picketing those for decades...........either is wrong. to intrude on a family's grief ,supposedly, in the name of God is blasphemy. Jesus spoke of loving all , and it says in the bible judge not lest thou shall be judged, obviously fred and co. are illiterate they don't understand God's love at all. hopefully one day the light of Gods love will shine in the darkness of his soul.
