Actually it is not crazy. My daughter is a true vegetarian, but no one else in our family is. She is almost 22 & has been one for 12 years or so. In the beginning she would make remarks like that to us but as she grew older she has learned to respect our choice & rarely says anything. But I think the reason they do that is the same reason anyone says anything about something they believe in so strongly. If you believe in a certain civil right, you speak out about it..a particular religion...you speak out about it..or even your favorite sports team...you speak out about it & defend what you believe in...so it is with vegetarianism...they honestly believe in it...and I have seen some of the research my daughter has done on meat & it's processing procedure...& believe me...if everyone could see it, there would be a whole lot of them converting to vegetarianism. It's disgusting & heartbreaking what some of those animals go through. I just think you need to try to see your friend as a strong person if she honestly believes in that eating habit, and can stand up for it. Also I have seen with my daughter that she doesn't have symptoms or health problems that meat eaters have or may get...such as high cholesterol. She has found other sources of protein that work just as well.
Good Luck & God Bless!

I've never understood that myself..... especially the part about furs. I'll bet you live in the South or California or someplace hot. People in the midwest (i"m in Ohio) NEVER ask why people wear furs! I dont think I've ever seen a PETA protest here. Let her spend a winter with wind chill of 30 below zero and 3 feet of snow and she'll skin a cat for a fur!!! :-)
Seriously, some people just can't live and let live, they must feel the need to conform everyone to what they feel are acceptable standards. The Bible says animals were put on earth to be food, and I say fire up the Que and pass the A1!!

Because it makes them feel better. I wouldn't let it bother you much. After all, the last I checked, we were at the top of the food chain. I don't agree with people killing for the sport, I do think that is cruel. But maybe your friend needs to understand, that some people eat meat because it is cheap. Some people have to hunt for their dinner. It's what our ancestor's did, and it's what we sometimes have to do now in order to feed our families.

When people make drastic changes to their lives (whether it be this or otherwise) they become "self-righteous" and want to help others improve themselves by doing the same thing (or something similiar). There is going to be nothing that you can say to convince your friend that what you are doing is within your right as a human being. I, myself, am a vegetarian; but I don't go toting my ideals to my friends, especially when it's unwarrented. If they ask, I'll let them know, but otherwise it's not something to discuss. You have your opinion and I'll have mine kind of thing...

I equate it to receiving unsolicited advice. Crazy? No. They feel justified pushing their beliefs upon anyone that will listen. All of this kind of talk makes me hungry for a steak. Anyone else?
