Oh Mary, this London's a wonderful sight,
Where the people are working, by day and by night,
They don't sow potatoes, nor barley, nor wheat,
But there's gangs of them digging for gold in the street.
At least when I asked them, that's what I was told,
So I just took a hand at this digging for gold,
But sure all that I found there, sure I might as well be,
Where the Mountains of Mourne, sweep down to the sea.

NO they are not paved with gold - not even metaphorically speaking - but London is an example of a great multicultural, well functioning center and financial powerhouse with tradition and the latest trends all in one to boot.
Obviously u have never left iran - and what are u thinking - coming to sponge?...
basic common sense should be introduced as a requirement for entry.

Been to London- great city but no gold paved streets. Where in the world did you get that idea?

If the answer was yes then the criminals that live here would have dug it up years ago! I'm sorry but this is a tall tale told around the world. Our streets are paved with concrete same as any place.

No. Paved with dog ****, more like. I come from London and live in NZ now. Couldn't believe it when I saw people here walking around city streets barefoot.

I've been there and seen the historical sites. I never saw gold on the streets. But there is something special about London, to be sure.

Yes London is paved with Gold that is if you are a pickpocket a prostitute a shop lifter a thief and you are NOT English.
