was wondering was told that someone could use my IP adress an i not know it.how can someone do that?

what someone does is if they get your ip they can ping you with cmd, with another sniffing program running at the same time(like snort or something) the they can interject info, take out or change anything
p.s you should close the ports you aren't using to make less open that an attacker can get to

*if you're worried about ppl hacking into ur computer, be careful if you have a wireless internet connection too, that your borders are within your house, thats an easy way to hack on someones system

*ppl can also get into your comp. or send virus' through instant messenger so be careful

if they find open ports on your computer they can run software silently without your knowledge or consent, but if caught they get into big trouble for cracking your system (commonly called hacking by mistake)

go to www.grc.com and do a port scan on your computer to see if your computer is in stealth mode or not. (use shieldsUP! to check this)
