Quite simply, Cubs fans are more in love with themselves than they are the team. Wrigley sells out all the time no matter how good the team is. Fans buy Cubs memerobelia no matter how bad the team is. Why should the team go out and spend money on a team that can actually compete when the stupid fans are so drunk they don't care if the team wins or not. Cubs fans are like RedSox fans were. They love to wallow in the mud of their "curse". If they actually started winning, it wouldn't be cool to root for them anymore.

Hey, at least they have been to the playoffs of late. To suck every year, we're taliking the Pirates since the '90s crew broke up. Or the D'Rays.

Why is the sky blue? What makes the birds sing? How many licks DOES it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll pop?

It's best not to question the nature of the universe.

Well at least they keep their spirits every year. Every year before the actual season, all the fans say they will win the world series. They've been saying that for 98 years.
