16 is actually the perfect age to start dating. your mom is just being way to overprotective. shes probably just worried that youll have sex too young, just sit down and have a talk with her. tell her that youre responsible enough to handle yourself with a bf, and that youll wait a while before anythin sexual (even if u dont mean it). hopefully she'll understand, but really, she cant control whether or not u have a bf, she can just control any dates u go out on.

I have a 16 year old son who has a 15 year old girlfriend. They actually started "dating" at the ages of 15 and 14. Because they were too young to go places alone and because her parents did not feel comfortable with them being alone, we took the following approach.

Her parents would invite my son to go places with them. They have two other children, and they just took him in like he was a part of the family. They take him every where they go.

We do the same. When we go places, we take both my son and his girlfriend. This gives them the opportunity to be together while ensuring that they are supervised.

They also spend a lot of time talking on the phone because they live almost an hour away from each other.

It seems like 16 is plenty old for dating. Maybe you could start by asking your mother if your boyfriend could just come over to the house to watch tv or something like that. If she is in the house, she should be quite comfortable with that.

Some parents are just downright unreasonable about some things. Just keep trying to communicate that you are not asking to go on formal dates yet and that you want her to get to know your boyfriend so that she can see how nice he is. Talk to her about how important it is for you that she be able to trust you and that you feel like she does not trust you right now.

I hope she comes around. I just don't understand why parents don't see that they cause their children to lie and sneak around when they put too many restrictions on them. Parents need to listen to their children more carefully. I hope things work out the way that you want them to. Best wishes.

16 is old enough as long as u keep to ur studies. ur mom just doesn't like that ur growing up show her you can be responcible it's like convincing her to let you have a puppy :)
