My instant messenger will not come up and I've recently installed SP2 after great reluctance to do so. I've not found where or how to manipulate the microsoft firewall or even if it can be done.

here is a WARNING!!! to every1 wishing to use SP2..
DO NOT INSTALL SP2 UNTIL U'VE CLEANED UR SYSTEM FOR VIRUSES, SPYWARES OR ADWARES
got it? the sp2 has some sorta builtin system to remove or block viruses. in a result all the applications or files which r infected by even a small virus will either get blocked or get corrupted bcuz of its trail to repair the file.. so here's what u gotta do.. install a good anti-virus (say norton or mc'afee) update its virus defination files, go to safe mode n scan ur whole system for viruses.. ofcourse some files will bcum un-useful bcuz of the viruses, ur yahoo might get deleted or corrupted but the next time u install it, it wont create any problems again..
